DESCRIPTION
Position Summary:
The Senior Electrical Engineering Manager will provide technical and people leadership for the PCBA Center of Excellence in Hyderabad. This role requires strong hands-on experience in electrical and PCBA product development, ideally in complex or regulated products such as scientific instruments, diagnostics, or medical devices.
The Senior Manager will lead the technical evaluation and implementation of design improvements, cost-optimization opportunities, and product lifecycle changes while ensuring that performance, quality, reliability, compliance, and manufacturability requirements are met.
The role will also strengthen the CoE's technical capabilities, engineering governance, and ability to partner effectively with R&D, site engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and contract manufacturers.
What you will do:
Technical Leadership
- Provide technical leadership and deep expertise in electrical and embedded systems design, including power electronics, motor control, precision analog, RF, and embedded systems, to review, challenge, and validate PCBA design and VAVE opportunities.
- Review and guide system- and board-level architectures, design changes, and component selection.
- Apply end-to-end electrical and PCBA product-development experience to assess product architecture, technical risk, design changes, and verification and validation requirements.
- Lead technical trade-off analyses across performance, cost, risk, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Partner with R&D and site engineering teams to convert technical concepts into robust, validated, and executable design solutions.
- Ensure disciplined engineering practices, including simulation, analysis, structured design reviews, and appropriate technical documentation.
Value Engineering and Cost Productivity
- Lead the identification, evaluation, and execution of PCBA value-engineering opportunities.
- Build and manage a pipeline of cost and design-improvement initiatives across sites and suppliers.
- Review and challenge internal and external proposals to ensure technical and business viability.
- Drive alternate-component and alternate-design assessments for cost reduction, supply continuity, and lifecycle improvement.
- Ensure VAVE opportunities are supported by appropriate technical analysis, risk assessment, verification, validation, and implementation planning.
- Ensure that proposed changes meet performance, quality, regulatory, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.
Governance and Operational Excellence
- Establish technical governance, standardized workflows, review criteria, decision points, ownership, and documentation requirements for evaluating, approving, validating, and implementing PCBA design and VAVE opportunities.
- Improve productivity and execution by clarifying expectations, reducing rework, and driving consistent engineering practices across the CoE.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Act as a key interface among the PCBA CoE, R&D, site engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and contract manufacturers.
- Align stakeholders on product architecture, technical requirements, risks, validation needs, and implementation plans.
- Influence technical and business decisions within a global matrix environment.
- Support regional manufacturing and value-engineering programs.
People Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop engineering team members.
- Build technical capability within the CoE through mentoring, knowledge sharing, and structured technical development.
- Upskill the team in electrical and PCBA product development, technical risk assessment, validation planning, and VAVE execution.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, technical rigor, and continuous improvement.
- Support succession planning, talent development, and organizational capability building.
