AWS Infrastructure is building and operating water systems that are industry-leading examples of efficiency, resilience, and sustainable design. As a Senior Construction Manager for Water Infrastructure, you will autonomously lead the delivery of water supply, treatment, and wastewater projects at scale across EMEA - from concept through commissioning and handover to operations.

You will provide oversight across all disciplines - civil, mechanical, process, controls, and environmental - ensuring our water systems meet demanding performance, cost, and schedule targets. You will navigate complex regulatory and permitting landscapes (including EIA, permitting, and local water authority approvals) while driving construction safety and quality standards on site.

Key job responsibilities - Construction project management and oversight of construction related activities as they relate to water infrastructure projects in EMEA. - The role involves travel up to 40% of the time. - This will include the ownership of the project scope, timeline, and budget. - Direct interface with construction general contractors during the bidding, award, execution, and project closeout/punch list phases. - Work with general contractors and vendors to deliver efficient and high quality project turn-overs in line with electrical utility requirements. - Lead negotiations with general contractors and evaluate bids/proposals with detail and accuracy. - Creation of construction project scope and request for proposals. - Capital requests/financial analysis of construction work including change orders, purchase orders, and invoicing. - Construction submittal review. - Construction project quality assurance including support of the commissioning process. - Recording and reporting key constru\ction metrics to team members and management. - Drive teams to perform troubleshooting and root-cause failure analysis associated with equipment or electrical failures. - Be a leader within the group as well as within internal and external teams that support the data center. - Travel to data centre sites for engineering evaluations, water systems audits, mechanical system reviews, start-up testing, and full commissioning, as required.

Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree Construction Management or an equivalent engineering science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering. - 7+ years of recent experience in construction management of large, complex projects involving large-scale mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) plants. - Understand mechanical and civil engineering principles for water systems. - General contractor and vendor management experience (request for proposals, bidding, change orders) associated with construction and project execution.

Preferred Qualifications: - Experience directly related to the design and construction of water infrastructure or large scale mechanical and electrical plants. - Experience with large scale technical operations, mission-critical mechanical/water infrastructure, or large-scale compute farms. - Experience dealing with location-specific water utility providers. - Experience of risk and change management through procurement, delivery and handover of design and build projects. - Experience of leading contract and commercial negotiations and administration of design and build projects. - Experience of monitoring contract dates and deliverables to keep project on track and help mitigate any potential issues before they develop into significant problems. - Able to effectively communicate with team members, senior management and leadership across organisation to keep all relevant stakeholders up to date with important contract information. - Experience in negotiating easements/wayleaves with land owners, utilities, etc. - Value engineering: Proven ability to reduce costs through creative solutions with no impact on quality and reliability (new designs, technology, or construction methods). - Experience in construction and commissioning of Water Infrastructure projects. - Certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP), LEED, and/or Certified Construction Manager (CCM). - Possess clear written and verbal communication skills and ability to use data to justify conclusions
