Full description

The Business Analyst will support the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) on the AI Apprenticeship Program. This role reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business systems, user needs, and existing processes to identify opportunities to improve operations through technology. The Business Analyst will perform business process mapping and reengineering, prepare solution options, and identify risks. The role also supports financial analyses such as cost/benefit, return on investment (ROI), and buy/build evaluations. The Business Analyst will translate business needs into detailed requirements and documentation that guide the development or modification of computer applications.

Responsibilities

  • Review, analyze, and evaluate business systems and user needs.
  • Formulate systems that parallel overall business strategies.
  • Analyze existing business processes to identify opportunities for improved technology solutions and business effectiveness.
  • Perform business process mapping using industry-standard practices.
  • Conduct business process reengineering to make business operations more effective.
  • Identify new applications of technology to address business problems.
  • Prepare solution options and identify associated risks.
  • Perform financial analyses such as cost/benefit, ROI, and buy/build evaluations.
  • Document detailed user needs, program functions, and business requirements.
  • Write detailed descriptions of the steps required to develop or modify computer programs.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • 7 years of experience in the field or in a related area as a Senior Business Analyst (Technical).
  • 7 years of familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures applicable to business and systems analysis.
  • 2 years of experience as a data analyst analyzing raw data using Excel, Tableau, or similar tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with one or more Texas state agencies.

Additional Requirements

  • Candidates must reside in the Austin area.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.

Work Location and Schedule

Location: TxDOT Offices, 6230 E Stassney Ln, Austin, TX 78744.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (12-month engagement, 2080 hours).

Work Arrangement: Onsite, 5 days per week.
