Job Description – Business Analyst

Summary

The Business Analyst sits within Cassini’s Product team, translating client and business requirements into detailed technical and functional specifications for development. The role requires a detail-orientated candidate with financial services experience, ideally in market risk, credit risk or collateral workflows and analytics, gained either at a financial institution or a fintech vendor.

 

The Business Analyst converts feature requirements into development documentation that developers, product owners, QA and end users (delivery, support) can work from. They will absorb complex business use cases quickly and translate these into well-defined technical and functional specifications, and will be able to guide a developer with a non-financial background through complex financial analytics functionality.

Full Time – Chennai central office location.

Role

The core responsibilities of the Business Analyst are:

 

  • Communicate with delivery, support, product owners and partners to understand business requirements and priorities
  • Understand the high-level architecture of Cassini software
  • Produce detailed documentation of feature requirements
  • Create and refine Jira tickets to reflect development requirements for a given project
  • Define functional acceptance criteria for epics and individual tickets in Jira
  • Create user documentation explaining the impact of new development work to end users
  • Specify details of initial margin calculation models
  • Produce prototype calculators, wireframes and workflow diagrams to define proposed solutions
  • Validate results and identify configuration errors during QA testing
  • Research new margin and collateral calculations, workflows and use cases together with Product Owners
  • Use Cassini APIs and UI to test functionality and identify potential issues or improvements

Tech Stack

We work with an exciting, modern stack built for scale, reliability, and productivity. To be successful in this role, you’ll need solid experience with some of the core tools, platforms, and technologies we work with:

 

  • Jira, Confluence and the agile workflow
  • Figma, Lucid and other wireframing tools
  • Generative AI tools

 

A basic understanding of our technology stack is also helpful, although not essential:

 

  • SQL databases
  • AWS infrastructure
  • Python
  • APIs / SFTP

Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience;

  • Strong understanding of margin and collateral workflows and use cases, pre- or post-trade
  • Experience with cleared OTC, ETD or Bilateral derivatives
  • Experience of Initial Margin and collateral workflows
  • Strong working knowledge of Jira and other project management tools
  • Strong data manipulation skills using JSON, CSV and XML files
  • Exceptional written and interpersonal skills, communicating internally and with clients
  • Proven ability to document detailed functional and technical specifications
  • Problem-solving capability and the ability to convert a client problem into a technology solution
  • 3+ years’ experience in a Business Analyst role at a bank/buy-side firm or a technology solution provider
  • Strong academic background, with a degree in mathematics, science, business or a related field
  • Excellent teamwork skills.
  • Professional fluency in English (both written and spoken)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across global teams and time zones.

 

Preferred Qualifications, Skills & Experience;

  • Experience of Repo, Stock Borrow Lend or other financing solutions
  • Understanding of margin models and optimisation algorithms
  • Knowledge of the buy-side or sell-side’s operating processes
  • Experience using and defining API endpoints
  • Good understanding of data modelling and experience defining new data models
  • Some Python or VBA coding experience
  • Demonstrable experience using AI tools to fast-track tasks, automate processes and solve problems
