CERTEX USA is looking for an experienced Network Administrator in Houston to join our Team!
Job Summary:
A Network Administrator helps keep Ascent Lifting's computer networks, internet connections, and communication systems running smoothly across branch locations nationwide. This role installs, monitors, maintains, and troubleshoots network equipment such as firewalls, switches, and wireless systems. The Network Administrator works closely with branch teams and IT staff to resolve network issues, improve performance, and help ensure employees stay connected and productive. This position is based in Houston and serves as the primary network support resource for the company.
Essential Functions:
- Set up, maintain, and update network equipment, including firewalls, switches, and wireless systems, at branch locations across the country.
- Help keep branch locations connected by managing network and internet systems and making sure they run reliably.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network problems that cannot be handled by the IT Service Desk.
- Support backup internet connections to help branches stay online during outages or service interruptions.
- Monitor network performance and quickly respond to connectivity issues that impact branch operations.
- Maintain organized and accurate records of network equipment, settings, and system diagrams.
- Work with internet service providers and vendors to install new services, coordinate upgrades, and resolve outages.
- Partner with the IT team to improve network security and support company technology projects.
- Help ensure phone and communication systems perform reliably across all branch locations.
- Track, document, and complete work requests through the company's ticketing system.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to assist with urgent network issues outside normal business hours when needed.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Hands-on experience administering enterprise firewalls in a multi-site environment; SonicWall experience strongly preferred.
- Experience working with firewalls, network switches, and wireless equipment. Experience with SonicWall, Cambium, Aruba, Ubiquiti, or Meraki systems is preferred.
- Strong understanding of computer networking, internet connectivity, wireless systems, VPNs, and network security.
- Ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve network and connectivity issues efficiently.
- Experience working directly with internet service providers and vendors to install services and resolve outages.
- Experience supporting multiple branch locations and helping ensure reliable network performance.
- Ability to serve as a resource for complex technical issues and provide support to other IT team members when needed.
- Knowledge of backup internet connections and failover systems that help keep locations online during service interruptions.
- Familiarity with cloud-based networking technologies, VoIP phone systems, and network security best practices.
- Experience using IT support, remote monitoring, or technical documentation systems is preferred.
- Industry certifications related to networking or network security are a plus.
- Ability to work independently, stay organized, manage priorities, and communicate effectively with employees, vendors, and business partners.
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and respond to urgent network issues outside normal business hours when needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the workday.
- Ability to use a computer and other office equipment for extended periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds of equipment.
- Ability to travel to branch locations as needed.
- Ability to work outside normal business hours when responding to urgent network issues.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in MIS, CIS or 4+ experience in lieu of education
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience administering enterprise firewalls in a multi-site environment; SonicWall experience strongly preferred.
- Experience in construction, oil and gas, mining, aerospace, heavy industrial, or maritime industries preferred.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Pay Range - $75,000-$85,000
