Full description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Product Manager - WhatsApp based in India.
This is a high-impact product leadership role focused on shaping and scaling a mission-critical conversational channel for businesses worldwide. You will own the product strategy, roadmap, execution, and quality bar across messaging, calling, AI, onboarding, and monetization. The role combines deep product thinking with strong technical fluency, customer discovery, experimentation, and hands-on problem solving. You will work closely with engineering, design, data, finance, support, go-to-market teams, and external platform partners. Because the product depends on a third-party ecosystem, reliability, compliance, platform changes, and operational resilience are central to the role. You will operate in a fast-moving, remote-first environment where senior individual contributors have significant ownership and are expected to turn ideas into shipped products quickly.

Accountabilities
- Define and execute the product vision, roadmap, priorities, and success metrics across onboarding, messaging templates, interactive flows, calling, conversational AI, voice AI, and monetization, while making clear decisions about where not to invest.
- Simplify onboarding and account setup through self-service experiences covering business verification, number management, multi-account configurations, and coexistence capabilities.
- Own messaging deliverability and account health, including quality ratings, messaging limits, failure taxonomies, diagnostics, and proactive mechanisms that help customers understand and resolve issues.
- Lead the full messaging-template lifecycle, including categories, approvals, rejections, localization, rich formats, quality-based pausing, and reusable template libraries.
- Own calling experiences end to end, including WebRTC-based softphone functionality, permissions, recording, transcripts, call quality, and supporting instrumentation.
- Drive interactive messaging experiences and workflow capabilities, including data exchange, encryption, publishing processes, and operational reliability.
- Lead conversational and voice AI capabilities, establishing engagement and handoff rules, guardrails, language coverage, usage measurement, and cost controls to support sustainable margins.
- Own commercial strategy for usage-based products, including pricing, credit lines, multi-currency mechanics, wallet debits, reseller markups, discounts, and billing accuracy.
- Build strong relationships with external platform partners, pursue beta and pre-release opportunities, escalate customer and policy issues, influence partner roadmaps, and manage partner-funded initiatives.
- Conduct customer discovery and prototyping personally, using these activities to validate product direction and improve high-friction experiences.
- Partner with product marketing, support, implementation, revenue operations, and finance teams to improve activation, retention, packaging, revenue, and customer experience.
- Lead complex migrations and breaking platform changes across the existing customer base, ensuring clear technical plans, communication, risk management, and execution.
Requirements
- 8+ years of product management experience, including ownership of complex B2B SaaS, messaging, communications, AI, automation, CRM, or platform products and experience operating at Staff, Principal, Lead, or equivalent senior IC level.
- Deep knowledge of business messaging platforms or strong expertise in adjacent areas such as CPaaS, BSPs, conversational AI, telephony, or communications platforms.
- Practical understanding of real-time voice technologies, including WebRTC and VoIP, with the ability to reason about call reliability, quality issues, and instrumentation.
- Strong technical fluency across APIs, webhooks, LLM behavior, rate limits, retries, observability, scalability, and platform architecture, enabling effective collaboration with engineering teams.
- Experience building products on top of third-party platforms where external policies, approvals, technical limitations, or ecosystem changes can directly affect customers and revenue.
- Strong understanding of usage-based monetization, including rate cards, margins, wallets, credit systems, multi-currency billing, and pricing mechanics.
- Hands-on prototyping skills and a demonstrated habit of conducting direct customer interviews and discovery rather than relying solely on secondary research.
- Strong analytical capabilities, including defining product metrics, writing SQL, diagnosing funnel performance, identifying trends, and distinguishing meaningful signals from anecdotal feedback.
- Experience working with international or high-growth markets, particularly India, Southeast Asia, or Latin America.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong ownership, sound judgment, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced remote environment.
- Experience with messaging APIs, business-account operations, embedded onboarding, messaging aggregators, or similar ecosystems is advantageous.
- Additional value comes from experience with WebRTC, SIP, telecom compliance, AI agents, voice bots, speech technologies, content approval systems, usage-based pricing, multi-currency billing, or large-scale platform migrations.
Benefits
- Competitive compensation package aligned with experience and responsibilities.
- Fully remote working arrangement in India.
- Opportunity to own a high-impact product used by businesses across international markets.
- Significant autonomy and senior individual-contributor ownership in a fast-growing environment.
- Opportunity to work on messaging, AI, automation, communications, monetization, and platform products at significant scale.
- Lean, fast-moving product culture designed to test ideas and bring solutions to market quickly.
- Collaboration with experienced global teams across product, engineering, design, data, finance, support, and go-to-market.
- Continuous opportunities to learn about scaling B2B SaaS products and building technology for international customers.
- Well-funded and profitable company environment with a strong focus on sustainable growth.
- Employee well-being and a culture centered on ownership, collaboration, continuous improvement, and customer value.
