Full description

At NOVACARD, we’re redefining how people use credit. We are the first interest-free and no-annual-fee credit card in Mexico, designed to simplify personal finances and give users complete control – all from a mobile app. With NOVACARD, users can access up to $200,000 MXN in credit, only pay when they use it, and manage everything digitally in under 5 minutes. Our mission is to empower people to make smarter financial decisions by offering flexibility, transparency, and the freedom they need to reach their goals. Simple finances, big goals.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior QA Engineer to ensure the quality, reliability, and seamless operation of our mobile and backend products. You will work across the full product flow — from a user action in the Android or iOS app through APIs, message queues, and databases — helping the team deliver secure and stable financial services to our customers.

This role is ideal for an experienced QA professional who enjoys investigating complex systems, identifying risks before release, and collaborating closely with product, development, analytics, and QA teams in a fast-paced fintech environment.

The role is fully remote, with occasional business trips if required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze new functionality, create test designs, and write and maintain test cases.
  • Perform functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing.
  • Test NOVACARD’s mobile applications on Android and iOS, including behavior across OS versions, screen resolutions, application updates, push notifications, and deeplinks.
  • Validate complete user scenarios across the application, APIs, message queues, and databases — from user action to final data state.
  • Prepare and maintain test data, including customers at different lifecycle stages, tariffs, credit limits, and product offers.
  • Analyze test results, identify defects and risks, and provide clear, timely testing reports.
  • Review requirements, identify cross-team dependencies, and align them with relevant teams before testing begins.
  • Estimate testing effort, contribute to the maintenance and expansion of the regression test suite, and support release planning.
  • Investigate logs, trace requests across services using correlation or trace IDs, and collaborate with developers to diagnose complex issues.
  • Continuously improve QA processes, testing coverage, and product quality together with engineering and QA teams.

Key Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience testing complex software systems.
  • 2+ years of experience testing external integrations.
  • Strong experience in functional testing of mobile applications for Android and iOS.
  • Hands-on experience working with device logs, including Android Logcat and iOS Console.
  • Experience intercepting and analyzing mobile traffic, as well as testing application behavior across different operating-system versions and screen resolutions.
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall.
  • Excellent knowledge of software testing theory and test-design techniques.
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, and test-management tools such as X-Ray, TestRail, Test IT, Zephyr, or similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of SOAP and REST API testing, including XML and JSON, response codes, contract schemas, session-based and token-based authentication.
  • Confident SQL skills: ability to independently write medium-complexity queries using joins and aggregations, read database schemas, and validate data after product operations in MS SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL.
  • Understanding of asynchronous communication between services, including Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar message brokers; consumers, idempotency, retries, and delayed effects.
  • Experience with logging and monitoring systems such as Kibana, OpenSearch, Grafana, or similar tools.
  • Experience testing products built on a microservices architecture, including understanding service boundaries and the impact of changes on dependent services.
  • Ability to independently prepare test data using SQL scripts, internal/service APIs, and emulation of external-system states.
  • Fluent Russian and English at B1+ level, sufficient for working with technical documentation and an international team.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Charles, Fiddler, Swagger, Postman, or SOAP UI.
  • Experience in fintech or banking products, particularly card processing, credit products, tariffs, fees, limits, card statuses, and card lifecycle management.
  • Basic API test automation in Postman and experience running collections through Newman.
  • Experience testing BPMS processes and workflow engines such as Camunda.
  • Experience working with Git and CI/CD tools, including GitLab CI or Jenkins; ability to review build logs and independently run pipelines for test environments.
  • Understanding of security requirements for financial applications, including personal-data handling, OTP flows, sessions, and basic PCI DSS principles.
  • Experience estimating testing tasks and working with QA quality metrics, such as defect detection effectiveness (DDE), defect density, and test coverage.

What We Offer

  • Fully remote work format.
  • Official employment in accordance with the Russian Labor Code for residents of Russia; contractor collaboration for candidates from other countries.
  • Opportunity to work in an international team on an innovative digital credit product for the Mexican market.
  • A product-focused, data-driven environment where quality directly influences the financial experience of thousands of users.
  • The chance to work on complex mobile, backend, and integration scenarios in a rapidly growing fintech company.
