PROJECT MANAGER – MAJOR PROJECTS
Sydney / Parramatta | Infrastructure, Construction & Heavy Industry
Lead major projects. Own the outcome. Build what’s next.
Alfabs Engineering & Services is the flagship division of the ASX-listed Alfabs Group, delivering complex engineering and construction solutions across the Infrastructure, Mining, Ports and Construction sectors.
With a growing portfolio of projects across Sydney and NSW, we’re looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our Site Services team, based from our Parramatta office.
This is an opportunity for an accomplished Project Manager who wants more than simply administering a programme.
You’ll take genuine ownership of your projects — leading delivery from tender handover through to completion, managing commercial performance, driving programme and resources, building strong client relationships and leading your project teams to deliver safely, efficiently and profitably.
With Alfabs' integrated engineering, fabrication and construction capability behind you, you’ll have the resources and expertise to tackle complex projects and deliver solutions that make an impact.
THE ROLE
As Project Manager, you’ll be accountable for the successful delivery of a portfolio of projects across Sydney, NSW and beyond.
You’ll take ownership of safety, quality, programme, commercial performance and client outcomes, while leading and supporting the people responsible for delivering the work on the ground.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead projects end-to-end, from tender handover and mobilisation through construction, commissioning and final close-out.
- Take ownership of project financial performance, budgets, forecasts, margins and overall profitability.
- Lead and coordinate Project Engineers, Coordinators, Supervisors and site teams to achieve project objectives.
- Develop and maintain detailed project programmes, short-term lookaheads and resource plans to keep delivery on track.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications and project documentation to identify technical requirements and constructability opportunities.
- Work collaboratively with engineering, fabrication and site teams to develop practical and efficient construction methodologies.
- Proactively identify and manage project risks, contractual exposures, delays and commercial opportunities.
- Manage scope changes and variations, ensuring entitlements are identified, documented and commercially managed.
- Forecast labour, plant, materials and subcontractor requirements to support efficient project delivery.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, consultants and key stakeholders.
- Lead project meetings, reporting and communication, providing clear visibility of performance, risks and priorities.
- Ensure project quality documentation, compliance and contractual requirements are effectively managed.
- Champion a strong safety culture, ensuring WHS considerations are embedded in planning, decision-making and project execution.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We’re looking for a Project Manager who can see both the big picture and the detail required to get the job done.
You’ll bring strong construction experience, commercial awareness and the leadership skills to bring people together and keep complex projects moving.
Ideally, you'll have:
- Demonstrated experience managing complex construction, infrastructure, structural, mechanical or industrial projects.
- Strong site-based project delivery experience.
- Proven experience managing projects from commencement through to completion.
- Strong commercial and contractual acumen, including budgets, forecasting, variations, claims and cost control.
- The ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, contracts and scopes of work.
- Strong planning, programming and resource management capability.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing project and site teams.
- Excellent stakeholder management and client relationship skills.
- A proactive approach to risk, problem-solving and decision-making.
- Strong understanding of WHS, quality and compliance requirements.
- The confidence to make decisions, challenge thinking and take ownership of outcomes.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
