Full description

Rocketdyne is seeking to hire a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to support our Space Electronics business based in Mason, OH. This role leads a team responsible for developing, implementing, and improving operational efficiency, achieving on-time delivery, processes, systems, and tools. This role partners closely with product engineering, quality, suppliers, and customers to support new-product introduction, improve manufacturing performance, and deliver measurable operational results.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop the manufacturing engineering team, while supporting the master production plan.
  • Develop and execute short-term manufacturing engineering operational plans aligned with business objectives.
  • Define, implement, and improve manufacturing processes, tooling, equipment, systems, and engineering strategies for new and existing products.
  • Partner with engineering project teams to coordinate manufacturing readiness and release of new products.
  • Evaluate manufacturability, process capability, capacity, cost, quality, and cycle-time requirements.
  • Estimate and track manufacturing costs; establish time standards and recommend tooling, automation, and process improvements through capital.
  • Lead root-cause investigations for complex manufacturing, quality, and process performance issues; implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Drive significant improvements in processes, systems, products, and manufacturing solutions to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity.
  • Establish and maintain records, metrics, and reporting systems that support coordination and performance of manufacturing operations.
  • Communicate manufacturing engineering plans, risks, recommendations, and results to internal leaders, customers, and cross-functional partners.
  • Influence changes to manufacturing policies, practices, standards, and approaches across the organization.
  • Manage assigned projects and processes within established budgets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline with at least 9 years of relevant experience; or• Graduate degree with at least 7 years of relevant experience; or
  • At least 13 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Demonstrated leadership and people-management experience in a manufacturing engineering or related technical environment.
  • Experience performing manufacturing engineering in an electronics production environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing engineering principles, process development, tooling, production systems, cost analysis, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience supporting new-product introduction and transferring engineering designs into production.
  • Ability to analyze complex, ambiguous technical and operational problems and develop practical, data-driven solutions.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, including the ability to brief senior leadership and work effectively with customers and vendors.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in regulated, high-reliability, or complex manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, automation, design for manufacturability, and process validation methodologies.
  • Proven record of improving manufacturing performance through process, system, or product improvements.
