  • Position Summary

The Project Manager (PM) will be responsible for all aspects of project management, including startup, obtaining electrical permits, preparing tenders, budgets, estimates and construction schedules. The PM will work with in-house and external construction personnel to ensure project construction is executed in a timely and efficient manner while maintaining integrity of design and will work closely with the organization to ensure feasibility and costing of projects.

This position is located in Nanaimo, BC.

Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Work with Project Managers and Foremen to review electrical drawings and perform counts as Required.
  • Project planning - Development of the project plan, budget, and goals.
  • Review and fully understand contract and project documents.
  • Produce and maintain a construction schedule to monitor job progress.
  • Oversee the production of layout drawings.
  • Procure, review, and submit shop drawings for approval.
  • Ensure that orders for all major equipment are placed in a timely manner and coordinate timely delivery.
  • Work with Site Supervisor and Foremen to allocate resources for the projects.
  • Monitor the progress of projects to achieve positive results in areas of cost, quality, schedule, and safety.
  • Update Job Progress Analysis on a regular basis.
  • Continually seek ways to improve the time, cost, and quality objectives on each project.
  • Conduct regular meetings with job Foreman to assist in the planning of the project.
  • Review One Week Look-Ahead with Foreman.
  • Regularly visit job sites often to ensure work is being completed to specs of the project.
  • Attend and represent the Company at regular project meetings as scheduled by the GC and act in the Company’s best interests.
  • Manage Contemplated Change Orders in a timely fashion in accordance with Company’s procedures and project requirements.
  • Produce and submit to accounting updated change order schedules monthly.
  • Submit and seek approval of monthly progress billings in a timely fashion.
  • Close up the project by requesting final inspections and compiling and submitting as built drawings, maintenance manuals and final documents.
  • Monitor implementation of Company policies on the individual projects and inform report any violations or compliance issues.
  • Ensure fair practices with suppliers and wholesalers.
  • Implement and develop best practices to ensure maximum productivity.
  • All other duties as assigned to meet Company objectives.

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience in a Project Manager role.
  • Experience in the electrical construction industry is highly preferred.
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite of products including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, field drawings and plans.
  • Have oral and written communication expertise which is complimented with a keen eye for detail.
  • Knowledge of local, provincial, and federal workplace compliance regulations, ordinances, and legislation
