ABOUT THE ROLE

As an Engineering Manager, you will provide strategic and technical leadership for one or more engineering teams within our product organisation. You will lead engineers directly, contribute to product and engineering strategy, and ensure teams successfully deliver against business and customer needs.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL

  • Lead engineering across one or more teams, ensuring successful delivery while balancing customer needs, business objectives, and engineering excellence.
  • Contribute to product and engineering strategy alongside Product and Engineering leadership, helping translate Mercedes-Benz Group and MB.io priorities into clear engineering goals and team plans.
  • Champion AI adoption across products, engineering practices, and team processes, helping teams leverage emerging technologies effectively to drive organisational evolution, capability building, and operating model excellence.
  • Drive execution and accountability, ensuring strategic priorities are translated into measurable outcomes and delivered successfully.
  • Lead, coach, and develop engineers, supporting performance, growth, engagement, and career development.
  • Lead workforce planning, hiring, and resource allocation, ensuring teams have the capabilities and capacity needed to meet current and future business priorities.
  • Lead change and continuous improvement initiatives, advancing engineering practices, team effectiveness, organizational health, and ways of working.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders, product partners, and engineering teams, creating alignment across different interests and priorities.
  • Guide key technical decisions, evaluate trade-offs, and enable teams to make sound engineering decisions while maintaining technical excellence.
  • Track engineering performance, delivery, team health, AI adoption, and business impact through relevant KPIs.

TO SUCCEED YOU NEED

  • Significant experience leading and developing engineering teams within a product-oriented organisation.
  • Proven ability to align engineering efforts with business strategy and translate business objectives into clear priorities, plans, and measurable outcomes.
  • A strong technical background and the engineering credibility required to influence technical decisions, challenge assumptions, and earn the trust of engineering teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong execution skills, with a demonstrated ability to deliver complex initiatives from planning through implementation.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with experience building alignment across engineering, product, and business functions.
  • Experience with workforce planning, recruitment, cost and resource management.
  • A proven track record of driving change, continuous improvement, and organisational effectiveness initiatives.
  • A strong understanding of how AI is shaping software engineering organisations, together with an interest in driving its practical adoption.
  • Demonstrated ability to connect engineering activities to business value and customer outcomes.
  • A growth mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and a passion for developing people.
