The role
Are you an Analytics Engineer who wants to own the transformation and modelling layer that turns raw ingested data into curated, tested data models powering analytics, BI and AI use cases? Reporting to the Data Engineering Manager, you'll be the day-to-day owner of our dbt transformation layer, semantic layer and metrics, including the AI semantics underpinning our data agents. You'll partner closely with the Analytics Enablement Lead, work directly with reporting consumers, and act as the internal technical anchor for modelling work delivered by our external data and AI partner.
What you will be doing
- Own the end-to-end dbt transformation and modelling layer, designing, building and maintaining tested, documented models that convert raw data into curated, consumable datasets and reusable data products for reporting, self-service analytics and AI use cases.
- Build and maintain the semantic layer, metrics definitions and AI semantics that underpin conversational BI and data agents, ensuring consistent and governed business logic is consumed across BI, self-service and AI platforms.
- Partner directly with the Analytics Enablement Lead and key stakeholders to translate analytical needs into curated models and metrics, while owning data quality, testing, documentation and governance within the transformation layer.
- Act as the internal technical anchor for the modelling layer, reviewing and quality-assuring models, semantics and data products, while working AI-first to embed AI-assisted engineering and DataOps automation to accelerate delivery and uplift modelling standards across the sub-team.
- A qualification in a technical field or equivalent is expected, with dbt or cloud platform certifications considered a bonus.
What makes you stand out
You are a hands-on data engineer with 4–5 years of experience delivering production-quality pipelines, databases and curated datasets on cloud data platforms. You work AI-first, collaborate effectively across the data and AI team, and bring a solid understanding of how curated data products are consumed across BI and AI use cases.
- Monitor and troubleshoot pipelines day-to-day, resolving data and performance issues and escalating where required
- Build AI semantics and unstructured-data pipelines, supporting AI/GenAI consumption of curated data products
- Apply AI-assisted tooling and DataOps automation to accelerate delivery and operations
- Work within established engineering standards, participate in code review and act on feedback to lift quality
- Collaborate alongside the Analytics Engineer and GPT's data and AI partner on shared pipeline and platform delivery
- Technical skills: Strong hands-on SQL and Python, solid cloud data warehouse experience (Snowflake or comparable), and familiarity with modern analytics engineering tooling such as dbt
- Qualifications: Degree in a technical or quantitative discipline or equivalent experience; cloud data platform certifications such as Snowflake are valued but not required
