We are seeking a Senior Data Analyst / Engineer to support a post-go-live tactical reporting solution within a healthcare and medical scheme administration environment.
This is a hybrid Data Analyst, BI Developer and Data Engineer role, requiring someone who is equally comfortable working with data, developing reports, troubleshooting operational issues and engaging directly with business users.
The role will focus on stabilizing and enhancing the tactical reporting solution, reducing manual effort, resolving data and reporting issues, and supporting the organization through its initial production reporting cycles while the future-state MVP is being delivered.
The environment contains POPIA-sensitive health data and is currently operating on a legacy Oracle estate, with a transition toward Power BI.

Role Summary
The Senior Data Analyst / Engineer will be responsible for stabilising and improving the tactical reporting solution following go-live.
The role will focus on reducing manual effort, resolving operational and data issues, improving reporting processes and supporting the first production reporting cycles.
The successful candidate will effectively hold the tactical reporting solution together until the future-state MVP is delivered, while identifying opportunities to automate, simplify and improve the existing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Data Analysis & Investigation
- Analyse existing reporting processes and operational workflows.
- Profile and assess data to identify inconsistencies, gaps and quality issues.
- Investigate reporting and data discrepancies.
- Perform detailed root-cause analysis and implement appropriate resolutions.
- Validate data across source systems and reporting outputs.
Reporting & BI Development
- Develop, enhance and maintain operational reports.
- Refine existing reports to improve accuracy, usability and performance.
- Support the transition of reporting capabilities toward Power BI.
- Translate business requirements into practical reporting and data solutions.
Automation & Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to reduce manual data preparation and reporting activities.
- Automate repetitive reporting and data processes.
- Implement validation and reconciliation controls.
- Simplify operational reporting processes and improve efficiency.
Production Support
- Support initial production reporting cycles following go-live.
- Investigate and resolve operational reporting issues.
- Address remaining functional, data and reporting gaps.
- Ensure reporting remains stable and reliable during the transition to the future-state solution.
Business Engagement & UAT
- Work directly with business users to understand reporting requirements.
- Facilitate and support UAT and business validation.
- Work with stakeholders to confirm data accuracy and report outputs.
- Transfer knowledge and support Medscheme staff in using and maintaining the solution.
Documentation
- Document the tactical reporting solution, processes and key data flows.
- Capture outstanding gaps, issues and recommended enhancements.
- Provide documentation to support the transition toward the future-state MVP.
Candidate Profile

- A senior-level professional with strong Data Analyst, BI Developer and Data Engineering capabilities.
