As a Database Administrator you will own, optimize, and scale our high-throughput PostgreSQL database infrastructure that powers millions of global player experiences daily. In this role, you will ensure total reliability, peak query performance, and robust disaster recovery across complex production and testing environments. Your work directly fuels Bragg’s mission by providing a rock-solid, ultra-fast data ecosystem required for next-gen iGaming platforms. Working at the intersection of scale, complexity, and modern database engineering, you will collaborate closely with global development teams, infrastructure engineers, and technical leaders to shape our strategic data direction.

This is a hybrid role based at our Ljubljana office.

what you’ll do:

• Manage, configure, patch, upgrade, and plan capacity for large-scale production and testing PostgreSQL databases;
• Design, implement, and maintain high-availability and replication solutions (Patroni, repmgr, pgbouncer);
• Architect and execute backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies using tools like pgBackRest;
• Monitor system health proactively, conduct performance tuning, and optimize complex SQL queries for maximum speed;
• Apply industry best practices to database schema design, access control, auditing, and data security;
• Automate administrative workflows, database maintenance, and operational processes using Bash and Python;
• Perform rapid troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and incident prevention for critical data infrastructure;
• Partner closely with development teams to guide database architecture and query design;
• Drive process automation and integrate smart tools to continuously optimize database operations;
• Stay ahead of technological trends to help shape long-term database strategy and scalability.

what you bring to the team:

• 3 - 5 years of proven experience administering large-scale, high-load PostgreSQL databases;
• Deep understanding of PostgreSQL architecture, relational database internals, and advanced SQL/procedural extensions;
• Strong expertise in Linux administration and shell scripting (Bash/Python);
• Hands-on experience with database and system monitoring tools like Grafana and Zabbix;
• Demonstrated ability to integrate Generative AI into the engineering workflow to speed up debugging, automate routine coding tasks, and enhance architecture design and problem-solving;
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills, precision, reliability, and an action-oriented mindset;
• Spoken and written fluency in both English and Slovenian.

nice-to-haves:

• Experience with other database platforms, particularly Oracle RDBMS;
• Practical knowledge of cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) or containerization (Docker, Kubernetes);
• Familiarity with modern software development workflows and version control systems (Git).
