Full description

The Material Master Data Analyst is responsible for creating, maintaining, and safeguarding the quality of the material master database across the Company's ERP systems. Acting as one of the main points of contact for cataloguing-related requests from Procurement, Engineering, and Operations, the role ensures materials are created accurately, consistently, and within agreed service levels, while preventing duplicates and enforcing data governance standards. By maintaining a reliable and well-structured material master database, this role directly supports procurement efficiency, supply chain reliability, and informed decision-making across the organisation.

Core Tasks

  • Receive and manage material creation and modification requests through the designated workflow or ticketing tool, acting as the main point of contact for cataloging-related queries from Procurement, Engineering, and Operations teams, and ensuring requests are processed within agreed service levels (SLAs).
  • Support the Category Specialist and wider Business Support team in maintaining a reliable, up-to-date material master database.
  • Catalog new materials in the ERP system (e.g., IFS, SAP MM and McMain) following standardized naming conventions, classification rules, and technical specification templates, ensuring all required technical attributes (dimensions, materials, units of measure, manufacturer part numbers, etc.) are complete and accurate before approval.
  • Identify and prevent duplicate material creation through systematic searches and matching against existing records, while harmonizing and standardizing material descriptions and classifications across business units, plants, or legal entities.
  • Perform periodic data cleansing activities, including deactivating obsolete materials, correcting inconsistencies, and merging duplicates, while maintaining and enforcing data governance policies, taxonomies, and classification structures.
  • Monitor data quality KPIs (completeness, accuracy, duplication rate) and report deviations to the Category Specialist.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret technical specifications.
  • Analytical mindset, with experience using Excel and/or Power BI for data quality tracking.
  • Effective organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple requests simultaneously.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills to liaise with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems (SAP MM, IFS, or similar) for material master data creation and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with material classification standards or internal taxonomies.
  • Understanding of procurement and supply chain processes.
  • Knowledge of data governance principles and master data management best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Certification in Master Data Management or Supply Chain is a plus.
  • 2+ years of experience in master data management, material cataloging, procurement, or supply chain operations, ideally with hands-on ERP experience (SAP MM, IFS, or similar).
  • Fluent in English; French language is a plus.
  • Experience with data governance tools (e.g., TAM4) and exposure to Normalize-Match-Survive or similar data harmonization methodologies is an advantage.
