Role Overview
The Product Development Manager, Men's Walmart will lead the end-to-end product development process for Delta Galil's Men's Walmart business. This individual will partner closely with Design, Merchandising, Sales, Sourcing, Technical Design, Planning, and overseas manufacturing teams to drive product innovation, commercialization, cost optimization, and on-time delivery. The ideal candidate brings strong Walmart experience, a deep understanding of apparel development and sourcing, and the ability to manage multiple high-volume programs in a fast-paced retail environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead the product development lifecycle for the Men's Walmart business from concept through commercialization and production handoff.
- Partner with Design, Merchandising, and Sales teams to translate customer needs, market trends, and Walmart strategies into commercially viable products.
- Drive product development calendars and critical path management to ensure all milestones are achieved on time.
- Collaborate with sourcing teams and overseas factories to develop products that meet target costs, quality standards, and margin objectives.
- Manage product costing, value engineering, and cost negotiations to support business profitability goals.
- Evaluate fabric, trim, construction, and packaging options to optimize product performance, quality, and cost.
- Oversee sample development, including proto, fit, salesperson, pre-production, and production samples.
- Partner closely with Technical Design and Quality teams to ensure products meet fit, performance, testing, and compliance requirements.
- Review and manage WIP reports, proactively identifying and resolving development, sourcing, or production risks.
- Lead communication with overseas factories and sourcing offices to ensure alignment on development timelines, approvals, and production readiness.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on speed-to-market, process efficiency, and product innovation.
- Support Walmart line reviews, seasonal product launches, replenishment programs, and customer presentations as needed.
- Monitor market trends, competitive products, and Walmart category opportunities to identify product innovation and growth opportunities.
- Mentor and develop Product Development Associates and Coordinators as the team expands.
- Partner with Logistics, Planning, and Customer Operations teams to support successful product launches and delivery execution.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Merchandising, Product Development, Textile Science, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of apparel product development experience, preferably within men's apparel, underwear, basics, activewear, socks, or sleepwear.
- Experience supporting Walmart or other major mass retailers required.
- Strong knowledge of apparel development, sourcing, costing, manufacturing, and commercialization processes.
- Proven experience working directly with overseas factories and global sourcing teams.
- Ability to manage multiple product categories and high-volume programs simultaneously.
- Strong understanding of costing, margin management, and value engineering.
- Experience managing WIP reports, critical path calendars, and production timelines.
- Familiarity with Walmart systems, including Retail Link, SupplierOne, and NOVA, preferred.
- Experience with PLM systems and Microsoft Excel required.
- Excellent project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with both internal and external partners.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with shifting priorities.
Ideal Background
- Experience developing apparel products for Walmart’s Private brands
- Background in underwear, basics, activewear, socks, sleepwear, or adjacent apparel categories.
- Experience managing replenishment businesses and large seasonal programs.
- Strong sourcing and factory management experience across Asia and other global manufacturing regions.
- Proven ability to balance innovation, speed-to-market, quality, and cost in a high-volume retail environment.
This a hybrid role, with 4 days in our Secaucus, NJ office.
PAY RATE: $95,000/yr-$115,000/yr
