Position Summary

The Senior Power BI Developer leads the design, development, and optimization of the enterprise reporting and analytics platform supporting the Americas business. This role owns the semantic models, dashboards, and paginated reports that leadership and operational teams rely on daily, and partners closely with the data warehouse team to keep the underlying data accurate, governed, and performant.

While the primary focus is advanced Power BI and Microsoft Fabric development, the position also carries junior-level data warehouse responsibilities. The successful candidate will build and maintain pipelines in Azure Data Factory, deploy through Azure Pipelines, and perform entry-level transformation work in Azure Databricks under the direction of senior data engineering staff. This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to grow from strong reporting expertise into broader data engineering capability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and paginated reports that serve finance, supply chain, service, and commercial stakeholders across the Americas.
  • Develop and tune enterprise semantic models, including advanced DAX measures, Power Query transformations, incremental refresh, row-level security, and composite and DirectQuery models.
  • Build and administer solutions in Microsoft Fabric, including lakehouses, warehouses, dataflows, notebooks, and OneLake shortcuts, applying workspace, capacity, and deployment pipeline governance.
  • Establish and enforce reporting standards covering data definitions, certified datasets, visual design, accessibility, and performance benchmarks.
  • Build and maintain ETL and ELT pipelines in Azure Data Factory to ingest data from SAP S/4HANA, IFS, NetSuite, and other source systems into the Azure data platform.
  • Deploy datasets, reports, and pipeline artifacts through Azure Pipelines, following established CI/CD, source control, and release approval practices.
  • Perform entry-level development in Azure Databricks, writing notebooks in SQL and Python to cleanse and shape data for reporting under the guidance of senior data engineers.
  • Contribute to dimensional modeling work, including star schemas and fact and dimension tables, and assist with query tuning, indexing, and partitioning of reporting tables.
  • Administer the Power BI Gateway, monitor scheduled refreshes and pipeline runs, troubleshoot failures, and escalate persistent data quality issues to the data warehouse team.
  • Apply data governance and security practices, including workspace access models, sensitivity labeling, and role-based permissions aligned to corporate policy.
  • Document semantic models, data flows, and report logic, and produce architecture diagrams showing how data moves from source systems to published reports.
  • Partner with business stakeholders and outside consultants to deliver analytics solutions on time and on budget, mentor analysts building self-service content on certified models, and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Analytics, or a related field.
  • Five or more years of business intelligence development experience, with at least three years dedicated to Power BI.
  • Expert-level Power BI skills across advanced DAX, Power Query and M, data modeling, performance optimization, row-level security, and Power BI Service administration.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Fabric, including lakehouse and warehouse items, dataflows Gen2, OneLake, and deployment pipelines.
  • Practical experience with Azure Data Factory building and scheduling ingestion and transformation pipelines; junior-level proficiency is acceptable for this role.
  • Exposure to Azure Databricks and Apache Spark notebooks for data preparation, with an interest in developing deeper engineering capability.
  • Experience deploying analytics assets through Azure Pipelines or Azure DevOps, including source control with Git and automated release management.
  • Proficiency writing and optimizing Microsoft SQL queries, stored procedures, and views, with hands-on use of SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) for development, query analysis, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with NetSuite reporting, including saved searches, report builder, and extracting NetSuite data for downstream analytics.
  • Working knowledge of the Power BI Gateway, including installation, data source configuration, credential management, and troubleshooting scheduled refresh against on-premises sources.
  • Strong SQL and dimensional modeling fundamentals, including star schemas and slowly changing dimensions, plus working proficiency in Python for data transformation tasks.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to explain data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Preferred: Microsoft certification such as PL-300, DP-600, or DP-203; reporting experience against SAP S/4HANA or IFS; familiarity with Unity Catalog, Azure Synapse Analytics, Power Platform integration, and Agile delivery methods.

Target Salary Range: $120,000 - $140,000 per year. Exact pay will be based on factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, level, geographic location, and business and organizational needs. Full-time positions are eligible for competitive benefits, including paid time off, health, dental, vision, life, disability benefits and 401(k).
