Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Database Engineer who owns database changes end-to-end, from development through validated production release. This role involves building and maintaining SQL Server schemas using SSDT/DACPAC and running reliable, repeatable database deployments through CI/CD pipelines such as Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions. The engineer will ensure every change, including indexes, schema drift fixes, and data migrations, is tested and validated in lower environments before reaching production. The role requires close collaboration with client stakeholders and development teams, with full ownership of the deployment runbook and release sign-off.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain SQL Server database schemas using SSDT and DACPAC
- Manage database deployments through CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions
- Configure and maintain SqlPackage publish profiles, pre/post-deployment scripts, and deploy report/script generation for review
- Validate schema changes, index updates, schema drift fixes, and data migrations in lower environments before production release
- Conduct dry runs, prepare rollback plans, and maintain clear error logging and diagnostics to ensure zero-surprise production releases
- Perform performance tuning, indexing strategy design, and troubleshooting under pressure to maintain database reliability
- Own the deployment runbook end-to-end and provide release sign-off for production changes
- Communicate clearly with client stakeholders on deployment status, risks, and release readiness
- Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to align database changes with application release cycles
- Document database change processes, deployment procedures, and troubleshooting steps for team and client reference
- Monitor production deployments post-release to confirm stability and address any issues promptly

- Experience with automated database testing using tSQLt
