Full description

We build a countertop machine that turns a small pad into fresh skin cream in about two minutes. The machine is cheap for the customer; the money comes from selling the pads over and over, so stopping fake pads matters a lot. Every pad has a tiny NFC chip that proves it is real and gets marked "used" the moment it goes into the machine.

The important part: the machine has no internet, ever. The customer's phone is the messenger — it carries keys, rules, recipes and firmware from our servers to the machine over Bluetooth, and carries the machine's activity log back. The machine doesn't trust the phone, so it only accepts messages our backend has digitally signed.

That means two jobs. The Flutter developer builds the phone app: Bluetooth to the machine, NFC reading of pads, firmware transfer, and syncing everything up and down. The full-stack developer builds the NestJS backend that signs those messages, keeps the registry of every pad we ever made, and spots counterfeits when the logs come back

Requirements

Must Have:

Solid production Flutter/Dart experience with apps shipped on both App Store and Google Play.Hands-on Bluetooth Low Energy in a mobile app: GATT services and characteristics, notifications, bonding, MTU and throughput limits, connection lifecycle, background behaviour.Comfort with asynchronous, stateful, failure-prone flows, and a considered approach to state management (Riverpod, Bloc, or equivalent).Local persistence and offline-first sync design — the app must be useful with no connectivity and correct when it returns.Enough native iOS and Android knowledge to debug below the Dart layer when the platform is the problem.

Nice to Have:

NFC in mobile apps — NDEF, tag commands, and the real limits of iOS Core NFC.Firmware updates over BLE (DFU), ideally with a dual-slot/resumable design.Working knowledge of digital signatures — enough to verify signed payloads correctly and to recognise when a design does not actually prove what someone thinks it proves.Local notifications and background execution constraints on both platforms.Testing strategies for hardware-dependent code: mocked BLE layers, replayable device fixtures, integration rigs.
