Contributes to the overall success of the Deposits Domain – Pricing and Rates applications within Canadian Banking in Canada . The solution architect will be a key player in architecting the technology roadmaps for the current applications while also designing, delivering and maintaining existing solutions using Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, GCP and other leading-edge technologies, The candidate will work closely with Product partners, business and other teams driving technical discussions ensuring our solutions are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Lead the team’s cloud adoption to align with the bank’s target architecture for our applications. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • As part of a dynamic team lead the design, architecture, estimation and development of technology solutions in working with the product owners and business partners to provide the best possible solutions within the Pricing and Rates area of the Deposits Domain in Canadian Banking
  • Work with technology teams to understand current state gaps, future state capabilities needed and industry landscape
  • Lead the prioritization and development of implementation roadmaps to address gaps and ensure solutions are in line with enterprise vision
  • Lead project workstreams, including leading problem-solving sessions, workshops and interviews with cross-functional and business line working team members and subject matter experts
  • Provide guidance to project delivery teams to develop integrated project plans including adequate work breakdown structure, key inter-dependencies, milestones, and resource allocation
  • Work closely with technical teams and SMEs to ensure technology initiatives are delivered on time, within budget forecasts and deliver value identified at inception
  • Lead the development of new solutions and enhancements to existing applications and co-ordinate with various teams, business partners and our own team to build consensus on solution design.
  • Assisting in developing coding standards and testing approaches
  • Lead by example in taking initiative on cloud technology like Google cloud which is the target architecture state for our applications.
  • Work closely with information security to ensure our solution and code aligns with the bank’s information security standards.
  • Work as a team, collaborating with other Developers, Architects and other teams to realize technical vision and direction per bank architecture standards.
  • Assist with reviewing of solution designs and related code
  • Help other team members in technical knowledge and best coding practices
  • Have passion on learning new technologies as the bank moves towards cloud technologies
  • Consistently execute on the job accountabilities; considers the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture, and conduct all activities in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • 10+ years of IT experience with clear progression through various roles leading with at least 3 years of experience providing hands-on architectural design for software applications with proven track record of building a product and taking it to market.
  • Strong understanding of frontend development, specifically microapp design patterns.
  • Bachelor (equivalent or higher) degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience working in Financial Services domain highly desirable.
  • Experience in designing/developing cloud native solutions in GCP, Core Java, Python etc and knowledge of SQL and relational database
  • Experience in architecting end-to-end solutions involving multiple technology platforms and developing solutions leveraging established architecture/design frameworks.
  • Experience in Security Architecture on the areas of authentication, authorization, and auditing.
  • Hands-on experience in Microservices design, Event driven architecture, ETL and data solutions and System resiliency engineering.
  • Working experience with Spring Boot, Spring Security and Spring Data Repositories, Spring Batch. At least one. Spring framework works.
  • Technical working knowledge of Web Services, SOAP/REST, STS Spring Tools, or Eclipse Integrated Development Environment (IDE).
  • Knowledge of SSL and setup of secure handshake between applications.
  • Technical knowledge of development and implementation of cloud like Google Cloud and Splunk.
  • Proven hands-on experience in leading Proof of Concept / Proof of Technology initiatives.
  • Experience in Agile, DevOps and iterative software development.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills with the ability to build and foster relationships with business partners, project stakeholders, strategic technology partners and external vendors.
