This Role This role is based in Tokyo, Japan, delivering the electrical package on a major RHAELM data centre project.

As Project Manager - Electrical, you will lead the electrical package on a major RHAELM data centre project, taking full responsibility for delivery from pre-construction through to testing, commissioning, and handover.

You will coordinate MEP design, installation, and testing, working closely with subcontractors, consultants, and the wider delivery team to ensure the electrical infrastructure meets the exacting standards mission-critical environments demand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full responsibility for the operational delivery of electrical packages from pre-construction through to completion
  • Lead MEP activities on-site with a primary focus on electrical systems, including HV/LV distribution and switchgear
  • Coordinate and manage subcontractors, consultants, and suppliers to ensure seamless delivery
  • Review technical designs, method statements, and submittals against client specifications and data centre standards
  • Monitor progress, manage risks, and drive issue resolution to maintain schedule and cost performance
  • Oversee installation quality and ensure robust testing, commissioning, and handover processes
  • Liaise with clients and commercial teams, maintaining strong relationships throughout the project lifecycle
  • Manage change, variations, and commercial reporting alongside the project's quantity surveyor

Experience

  • Proven experience managing electrical packages on complex construction or M&E projects
  • Data centre or critical infrastructure project experience strongly preferred
  • Experience overseeing design, installation, and supply of electrical systems
  • Track record managing subcontractors and multi-package delivery teams
  • Experience working within fast-paced, high-spec, or live/semi-live environments
  • Experience operating within Japan's construction, engineering, or regulatory market context advantageous

Skills

  • Strong technical knowledge of HV/LV electrical systems and switchgear
  • Confident budget, programme, and risk management
  • Effective coordination across MEP disciplines
  • Strong client and commercial stakeholder management
  • Clear, structured reporting and documentation

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or Construction Management
  • Relevant health & safety qualifications (SMSTS, IOSH, or equivalent)
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. IET) advantageous
  • Based in Tokyo, Japan; business-level English required, Japanese language skills advantageous
