Opportunity Overview

Teradyne is seeking a Software Architect to lead strategic software development activities for semiconductor test customers. This hands-on role combines customer engagement, software leadership, and engineering enablement while partnering with customers, test engineers, application engineers, and software teams to define practical architecture and guide solutions into production.

  • Lead software architecture activities for assigned strategic customers, clarifying workflows, requirements, constraints, integration points, and technical risks.
  • Develop executable architecture plans with clear interfaces, technical guardrails, implementation stages, and validation strategies.
  • Collaborate with customers, test engineers, application engineers, and internal software teams to align account solutions with long-term platform direction.
  • Build and review modular C# software with clear interfaces, automated tests, maintainable dependencies, useful diagnostics, and appropriate performance.
  • Support implementation through prototypes, design and code reviews, documented decisions, and resolution of complex development or production issues.
  • Mentor test engineers in professional C# development practices by providing patterns, examples, reviews, and practical guidance.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 7 years of software development experience, including experience defining architecture or leading technical direction for complex projects.
  • Strong C# and object-oriented design skills, with experience building reusable libraries, frameworks, services, or applications.
  • Practical experience with automated testing, source control, continuous integration and delivery, package management, and production releases.
  • Ability to discover requirements in ambiguous environments, evaluate alternatives, document decisions, and explain tradeoffs to different audiences.
  • Experience leading through technical influence, collaboration, and mentorship across organizational boundaries.
  • Confidence working directly with customers during design discussions, escalations, and schedule-sensitive production issues.
  • Strong written, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of semiconductor test, device design, test program development, or high-volume manufacturing.
  • Preferred: Experience integrating engineering software with factory systems, equipment interfaces, data platforms, or third-party tools.

We are only considering candidates local to Austin, Texas and are unable to provide relocation for this position.

This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Compensation:

The base salary range for this role is $161,700 - $258,000. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location.

Incentive Plan: This job is eligible for discretionary bonus(es) based on financial performance.
