Job Description: This job is responsible for developing and delivering complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Key responsibilities of the job include ensuring that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional and compliance requirements, and solutions are well designed with maintainability/ease of integration and testing built-in from the outset. Job expectations include a strong knowledge of development and testing practices common to the industry and design and architectural patterns.
Position Summary:
The Java Developer III will serve as the primary onshore technical lead for the OMNIA platform, a business-critical application used by over 5,000 users across EIT. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting scalable enterprise solutions while ensuring platform stability, performance, and delivery of strategic initiatives.
Working closely with the Architect, Technology Manager, Product Owner, and business stakeholders, the successful candidate will translate business requirements into robust technical designs, lead development activities, and drive delivery of the Book of Work. The role will also provide technical leadership and mentorship to the development team, promote engineering best practices, and ensure high standards of code quality, performance, and maintainability.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Java Full Stack development, strong PL/SQL and database expertise, systems integration experience, and a proven track record delivering enterprise-scale applications in Agile environments.
Responsibilities:
- Codes solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements
- Designs, develops, and modifies architecture components, application interfaces, and solution enablers while ensuring principal architecture integrity is maintained
- Mentors other software engineers and coach team on Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI-CD) practices and automating tool stack
- Executes story refinement, definition of requirements, and estimating work necessary to realize a story through the delivery lifecycle
- Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas
- Automates manual release activities
- Designs, develops, and maintains automated test suites (integration, regression, performance)
- Lead the design, development, testing, and implementation of enterprise application solutions for the platform.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, Product Owners, Architects, and project teams to define technical solutions that meet business requirements.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to development team members.
- Drive solution design, code reviews, performance optimization, and adherence to development standards.
- Develop and support REST/SOAP services, integrations, and backend services using Java and Spring technologies.
- Design and optimize complex SQL and PL/SQL solutions to support application functionality and performance.
- Support production stability, incident resolution, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to Agile delivery processes, sprint planning, estimation, and execution.
- Ensure application scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver critical business and strategic initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years of applicable experience
- Must have demonstrated experience designing, developing, and testing real-world, enterprise applications.
- Must have experience using SVN, Maven, Jenkins, and Sonar as well JavaScript tools such as NodeJS, NPM, Jasmine, Karma.
- Must have experience in performance tuning and code optimization.
- Must have experience using Scrum and following Agile best practices.
- Must have hands-on Java experience, including analysis, design, and testing.
- Must have experience using Spring framework (all modules), Spring Boot, Spring Data, Spring Test Framework, Spring RESTful services, Transaction Management, Spring Annotations.
- Must have experience developing and consuming web services using SOAP or REST.
- Must have experience using JPA / Hibernate and developing complex queries using native / HQL.
- Must have working knowledge of Infrastructure for a typical web application (web servers, app servers, Configurations etc….).
- Must have relational database experience with a solid understanding of SQL and modelling concepts.
Desired Qualifications:
- Solid understanding of Javascript functional programming concepts, object-oriented techniques, and modern front-end web development standards and best-practices.
- Web UI development would be desired. Working experience with UI technologies like HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, JavaScript, jQuery, AngularJS would be desired.
- CSS frameworks like Bootstrap.
- Unix shell scripting experience.
- Prior experience with ETL tools like Informatica, SSIS is good to have.
- Nice to have skillsets: AutoSys, Hadoop, S3
