- Solutions Engineer
Hours are 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday through Friday
The Solutions Engineer is responsible for facilitating all solutions-based, aftermarket sales in the assigned Territory. They shall be able to perform inspections and analysis of equipment installed at Customer sites. Their on-site work will generate parts, system upgrades, and service opportunities. The Solutions Engineer will write detailed reports and develop innovative solutions to complex customer problems. They will rely on their technical and sales abilities to successfully bridge Customer needs, Representative capabilities, and Brentwood business objectives. The position requires business acumen and mechanical experience. Water & wastewater treatment process experience is an asset. Critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills are incumbent to the successful Solutions Engineer. Employee may perform other related duties as required to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Perform on-site analysis of Customer installations which may have chain & flight collector or trickling filter systems. Record accurate and thorough data while at Customer sites to generate reports which indicate the condition of the Customer’s equipment and provide recommendations.
- Maintain knowledge of Brentwood Water & Wastewater Product Portfolio, the market, competition and trends affecting the industry to provide guidance on specifications and proposals. Coordinate activities with all functional areas to provide value-added solutions and proposals to address Customer needs and maintain a consistent backlog of site visits to help ensure a steady pipeline of projects and opportunities.
- Work directly with Representatives, Regional Sales Managers and Customers to schedule visits and optimize travel and inspection schedules. Coordination with Field Service personnel may be required from time to time.Participate in mentoring and training others within the Customer Service & Solutions teams by reviewing site visits, reports, proposals and region-specific order verifications, and scheduling joint visits when possible.
- Develop working relationships and promote Aftermarket sales with all Representative firms in the Territory.
- Assist in development, participation, and organization of training programs for Customers and Representatives, including presentation of technical and operational information.
Essential Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial preferred) from a four-year college or university or a combination of bachelor’s degree, suitable experience and mechanical aptitude will form a suitable basis for qualification. Related experience in the Water and Wastewater industry for municipal and industrial markets is preferred.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical documents from on-site evaluations, and other engineering related documents.
- Ability to respond effectively to inquiries or complaints.
- Ability to write presentations and proposals.
- Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Must be independent, organized in data collection, and possess time management skills.
- Possess business-related computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM Software and ERP systems.
- Ability to accommodate at least 50% travel in the Territory, including extended overnight stays.
