Full description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Lead Site Reliability Engineer based in the United States.

In this role, you will play a key leadership role in driving cloud infrastructure modernization, automation, and operational excellence. You will design, build, and maintain scalable infrastructure environments across AWS, leveraging Infrastructure as Code and cloud-native technologies. Working closely with platform, engineering, and delivery teams, you will ensure reliable, secure, and high-performing systems that meet evolving business and client requirements. You will lead initiatives to automate repetitive processes, improve system observability, and strengthen service availability. The position also involves incident management, security improvements, and continuous optimization of cloud operations. This is an opportunity to combine hands-on technical expertise with mentoring responsibilities in a collaborative, remote-first environment.

Accountabilities:

  • Design, build, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure environments and capabilities using AWS services and Infrastructure as Code practices.
  • Collaborate with delivery, platform, and engineering teams to understand client requirements and develop infrastructure solutions aligned with business needs.
  • Lead the development and implementation of automation solutions to eliminate repetitive operational tasks, streamline workflows, reduce manual intervention, and improve engineering efficiency.
  • Build, maintain, and optimize monitoring tools, alerts, and dashboards to provide visibility into infrastructure health, system performance, and service availability.
  • Proactively identify, investigate, and resolve performance bottlenecks, infrastructure issues, and availability risks.
  • Implement and maintain security policies, including infrastructure patching, vulnerability remediation, IAM role management, and basic security audits.
  • Develop, administer, and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines to support reliable and efficient software delivery.
  • Manage source code repositories and version control processes using Azure DevOps and other Git-based platforms.
  • Build, configure, and maintain Kubernetes clusters to support scalable containerized applications and infrastructure workloads.
  • Participate in incident response activities, coordinate troubleshooting efforts, and conduct post-incident reviews to identify root causes and implement preventive measures.
  • Apply relevant ITIL practices to improve service management, operational consistency, and infrastructure reliability.
  • Mentor and coach team members, share technical knowledge, and promote best practices across engineering and SRE teams.
  • Contribute to reporting and dashboarding activities to support operational visibility, performance tracking, and informed decision-making.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • At least 8 years of relevant professional experience in site reliability engineering, cloud infrastructure, DevOps, platform engineering, or related technical fields.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, particularly RDS (MS SQL), Elastic Beanstalk, EKS, and other AWS infrastructure solutions.
  • Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code, with practical experience using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Proven scripting and automation experience using at least one scripting language, preferably Python.
  • Solid programming experience with languages such as Java or .NET.
  • Demonstrated experience building, configuring, and maintaining Kubernetes clusters and containerized environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Git-based version control platforms, particularly Azure DevOps or GitHub.
  • Experience designing and maintaining automated CI/CD pipelines and supporting software delivery processes.
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring, alerting, and dashboarding solutions, particularly AWS CloudWatch and Datadog.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies and experience working in collaborative, cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Knowledge of ITIL methodologies and their application to service management and operational processes.
  • Experience with incident management, root cause analysis, infrastructure troubleshooting, and implementing long-term preventive solutions.
  • Strong reporting and dashboarding capabilities, with the ability to translate operational data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and mentoring skills, with the ability to guide colleagues and collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Adaptability and resilience when working in changing environments, managing competing priorities, and navigating complex technical challenges.
  • High levels of self-motivation, initiative, and focus, with the ability to work independently while contributing to shared team objectives.

Benefits:

  • Annual base salary: $150,000–$175,000, depending on relevant experience, qualifications, technical skills, geographic location, and market conditions.
  • Potential eligibility for a discretionary performance-based bonus, subject to applicable program guidelines and management approval.
  • Paid time off (PTO) and paid holidays.
  • Comprehensive healthcare benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Life insurance and disability insurance coverage.
  • 401(k) retirement savings plan.
  • Fully remote working arrangement, providing flexibility in where you work.
  • Opportunities to contribute to large-scale cloud transformation and infrastructure modernization initiatives.
  • Exposure to advanced AWS technologies, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code, and automation solutions.
  • Opportunities for technical leadership, mentoring, and professional development.
