We are seeking an experienced Expert Database Administrator (TP4) to join our Shared Services Database Engineering team. This is a senior individual contributor role responsible for providing technical leadership across enterprise database platforms supporting product engineering, SaaS operations, customer implementations, cloud transformation initiatives, and large-scale modernization programs.
The successful candidate will possess deep expertise in Oracle Database technologies and strong PostgreSQL administration skills, with the ability to design, optimize, automate, and support highly available database environments. The role requires hands-on experience in database architecture, performance engineering, troubleshooting complex production issues, and guiding database modernization initiatives including cloud adoption and platform migrations.
This position will work closely with Engineering, Architecture, Product Development, Cloud Operations, Performance Engineering, Customer Support, and Implementation teams to ensure database platform reliability, scalability, security, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Database Platform Leadership
- Serve as a technical subject matter expert for Oracle and PostgreSQL database platforms.
- Define and maintain database standards, architecture principles, operational procedures, and best practices.
- Provide technical leadership for complex database initiatives across engineering and customer environments.
- Drive database reliability, scalability, security, and performance improvements.
Database Architecture & Data Modelling
- Review and guide database architecture and schema designs.
- Provide recommendations on logical and physical data modeling strategies.
- Evaluate database design decisions for scalability, maintainability, and performance.
- Collaborate with product and architecture teams to establish database standards and governance.
Performance Engineering & Optimization
- Lead root cause analysis for complex database performance issues.
- Analyze execution plans, locking, contention, indexing strategies, and workload patterns.
- Optimize SQL workloads and database configurations.
- Establish proactive performance monitoring and capacity planning practices.
Cloud & Database Modernization
- Support enterprise cloud transformation initiatives.
- Design and support database workloads on Microsoft Azure.
- Lead Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migration assessments and execution activities.
- Evaluate emerging database technologies and cloud-native database solutions.
Automation & Platform Engineering
- Develop and maintain automation frameworks using Shell and Batch scripting.
- Drive automation of deployments, database health checks, patching, monitoring, backup validation, and operational tasks.
- Support DevOps and CI/CD initiatives related to database lifecycle management.
- Improve DBA operational efficiency through automation and tooling.
Technical Mentorship
- Mentor database administrators and engineers.
- Conduct technical reviews and knowledge-sharing activities.
- Support skill development initiatives across engineering teams.
- Contribute to database strategy and long-term roadmap planning.
Mandatory Qualifications
Experience
- 8+ years of hands-on database administration experience.
- Minimum 5+ years of strong Oracle Database Administration experience and 3+ years of strong PostgreSQL Database Administration experience.
- Demonstrable experience managing large-scale mission-critical database environments.
- Experience supporting production, SaaS, or enterprise application platforms.

- Experience with Azure Database for PostgreSQL.
- Knowledge of Kafka administration, architecture, and integration patterns.
- Experience working with containerized applications and Kubernetes clusters.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code and DevOps practices.
- Experience with database modernization and migration programs.
- Experience supporting banking, financial services, or other mission-critical enterprise applications.
- Oracle and/or PostgreSQL certifications preferred.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
- Relevant Oracle, PostgreSQL, Cloud, or Kubernetes certifications are advantageous.
