In this senior engineering role, you will develop and maintain highly available, low-latency PHP microservices and contribute to critical backend solutions. You will work with asynchronous programming, messaging systems, AWS cloud services, APIs, and modern observability practices. The role also involves using AI agents as development tools, evaluating their output, and iterating toward secure and effective technical solutions. Accountabilities:

• Develop and maintain highly available, low-latency PHP microservices for critical digital and financial services.

• Use AI agents as development tools, providing guidance, critically evaluating generated results, and iterating until appropriate technical solutions are achieved.

• Analyze technical and functional requirements, identifying risks, complexity, dependencies, and feasibility before implementation.

• Investigate and resolve bugs and production incidents while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

• Build and maintain integrations with financial partner APIs and regulatory systems.

• Participate in code reviews, ensuring quality, security, maintainability, and adherence to team engineering standards.

• Monitor service performance, reliability, and availability using observability and monitoring tools.

• Document technical solutions and development strategies according to established engineering practices.

• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to support production services when required.

Requirements:

• Strong professional experience with PHP development, particularly in production environments involving high availability and performance requirements.

• Experience with asynchronous programming using Swoole or comparable technologies and/or other programming languages.

• Hands-on experience with messaging and event-driven technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or SQS.

• Experience working with AWS services, including EC2, SQS, S3, and Lambda.

• Experience with systems involving payments or financial services.

• Practical knowledge of observability and monitoring platforms such as Grafana, Dynatrace, or Datadog.

• Experience documenting strategies and approaches for incorporating AI into the software development lifecycle.

• Strong understanding of software quality, security, troubleshooting, code review, and production support practices.

• Ability to analyze complex requirements, assess technical feasibility, identify risks, and make sound implementation decisions.

• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within an engineering team.

• Willingness to participate in a rotating production on-call schedule.

• Experience with the Hyperf framework is a plus.

• Familiarity with PCI-DSS environments or systems handling sensitive data is an advantage.
