Job Description
The Product Manager II — Customer Data Platform & Marketing Technology is a key member of the Nordstrom Product Management team, responsible for the products and integrations that connect customer data to the channels marketers use to reach customers. This role supports and evolves our Customer Data Platform (CDP), deep linking capabilities, and marketing feed connections that power personalization, attribution, and customer engagement across Nordstrom's ecosystem, including paid media.
Our mission is to deliver reliable, well-governed data infrastructure, so every customer touchpoint is timely, accurate, and personalized. This means planning the roadmap, prioritizing the backlog, leading product discovery, and aligning stakeholders across our Marketing teams, Customer Outreach, Engineering, and Analytics.
The ideal candidate is deeply curious, comfortable with a high degree of technical detail and energized by using AI tools to explore data and prototype ideas alongside Engineering. You will work at both the strategic level to shape how CDP and integration capabilities evolve and the tactical level to troubleshoot data flows and solve problems.
A day in the life…
You'll succeed in this role if you can:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for our Customer Data Platform (CDP) provider and our deep linking vendor, owning the day-to-day vendor relationships, monthly business reviews, escalations, contract renewals, and roadmap alignment with both partners.
- Own the CDP roadmap, including onboarding additional customer data sources, improving data quality and enrichment, and delivering ongoing platform enhancements that expand what marketers can do with customer data.
- Drive AI Agent enablement within the CDP, partnering with Engineering and Marketing teams to expand agent access, define access controls, and identify new use cases for AI-assisted data onboarding, analysis, and journey support.
- Support the product feed connection into our marketing feed management platform, partnering with marketing enablement, who manage downstream distribution of those feeds into marketing and advertising platforms, ensuring data completeness, timeliness, and accuracy.
- Partner closely with marketing teams to translate campaign and marketer needs into clear requirements and prioritize the backlog and quarterly plan accordingly with Engineering leadership.
- Define, measure, and monitor KPIs for CDP and the integration health — including data quality, latency, match rates, and feed accuracy — and drive root cause analyses.
- Use AI tools to explore data, prototype workflows, build quick internal tools or proofs of concept, and communicate technical concepts more effectively with Engineering.
- Partner with Analytics and Engineering across the product lifecycle — from feature design through testing and launch — writing clear requirements and specs, and ensuring objectives, scope, and data integrity are maintained.
You own this if you have…
- 3+ years of product management experience in a technology-driven environment, or other relevant experience in a related technical or business role, ideally with accountability for data platforms, integration, or marketing technology products.
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, computer science, or related quantitative discipline required; advanced degree a plus
- Working knowledge of customer data platforms (e.g., Treasure AI, Segment, Adobe or similar), including concepts like audience segmentation and activation, along with experience in marketing feed management and how product and transactional data flows to downstream marketing and advertising platforms.
- Interest in AI agent enablement for data platforms, including how AI agents are granted access to customer data, and how they can be used to accelerate data onboarding, insight generation, and journey design.
- Strong technical acumen and understanding of software development principles, data pipelines, and APIs, paired with hands-on curiosity using AI tools for prototyping and code-adjacent work (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar) to explore data, validate hypotheses quickly, and build lightweight prototypes that sharpen conversations with Engineering.
- Experience managing vendor or partner relationships, including business reviews, escalations, and contract renewal conversations, and a proven ability to partner cross-functionally with all marketing teams and stakeholders to translate business and campaign needs into clear, prioritized technical requirements.
- Strong communication and judgment — able to define and measure improvement opportunities, translate complex data and technical concepts for technical and non-technical audiences, build relationships across Engineering, Analytics, and Marketing, and navigate ambiguity and competing priorities.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with deep linking and attribution technology (e.g., Branch, AppsFlyer, or similar)
- Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Adobe Journey Optimizer, or other marketing automation platforms
- Experience with loyalty platforms, promotions/offer engines, or personalization integrations
- Background in retail, ecommerce, or retail media, including experience supporting high-traffic sales events
If you're passionate about connecting customer data to great marketing experiences, energized by technical problem-solving, and excited to use AI tools to move faster with Engineering, we want to hear from you!
