Manager, Software Engineering

We are seeking a highly experienced Hands‑On Technical Manager to lead our engineering team both technically and organizationally. This role requires deep, hands‑on expertise across the full technology stack, combined with strong people leadership, delivery ownership, and technical strategy.

You will remain actively involved in system design, critical code paths, architectural decisions, and complex problem‑solving while also managing, mentoring, and growing a team of engineers and Tech Leads. You will serve as a key bridge between Engineering, Product, Design, and Leadership, ensuring scalable, secure, and high‑quality solutions are delivered consistently to production.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Manager, Software Engineering: 

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership (Hands On)

• Define and own system architecture, engineering standards, and technical strategy across products and platforms.
• Design, architect, and review complex full-stack solutions using Angular, .NET, Node.js, GraphQL, and REST-based microservices.
• Contribute to critical technical initiatives through architecture reviews, proof-of-concepts, technical spikes, and complex refactoring efforts.
• Guide teams in secure coding practices, scalability, performance optimization, maintainability, and operational excellence.
• Review and approve high-impact design decisions, code changes, and release strategies.
• Drive engineering quality through code reviews, automated testing, quality scans, and development best practices.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and evaluate opportunities for adoption.

Delivery & Execution

• Own end-to-end delivery of technical initiatives and ensure successful deployment into production environments.
• Partner with Product, Design, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Balance immediate delivery commitments with long-term architectural sustainability.
• Collaborate with Agile teams throughout the software development lifecycle including design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
• Ensure application reliability, maintenance, issue resolution, and continuous improvement.
• Drive timely execution and resolution of complex technical challenges.

People Leadership

• Lead, mentor, and develop engineers and technical leads.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
• Drive technical excellence through coaching, knowledge sharing, and best practices.
• Support team growth through performance management, career development, and succession planning.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of professional hands-on software development and system design experience.
• Previous experience in an Engineering Manager or Technical Manager role with direct people management responsibilities.
• Proven track record of leading complex projects from concept through production delivery.
• Strong experience across all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
• Deep understanding of designing secure, scalable, extensible, and reusable software systems.
• Ability to effectively balance hands-on technical contributions with leadership responsibilities.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving capabilities.
