Solutions Engineer

Description
The primary focus of this role is to drive the success of the Industry Managed Solutions group for GS1 Canada by working directly with subscribers while developing subject matter expertise in our full suite of products, services and the technical landscape. The incumbent is a business leader with strong technical skills and specialized in the design, development, implementation and ongoing operation of services that leverage multiple data sources. The Solutions Engineer will be accountable for understanding, documenting and communicating our subscribers’ requirements and will actively lead in solution designing and streamlining the delivery of the solution across various departments. Additionally, the Solutions Engineer will play a lead role in ensuring that the ongoing system transformation will meet the needs of our Subscribers and the long-term product roadmaps.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with our subscribers to understand their business and technical needs and design solutions demonstrating our innovative capabilities.
- Serve as a subject matter expert of our solutions and address to a business or technical audience while leading the implementation of the approved solutions.
- Develop and maintain enterprise architecture solution delivery documentation, SOP’s and process maps to provide the enterprise with a detailed view of the various solutions implemented and how they work with one another.
- Lead the gathering of business and technical requirements, discovery, and mapping with the cross functional departments.
- Capture and validate business processes across various systems along with their interfaces and their process flow analysis and process redesign.
- Translate subscriber needs and future system enhancements into workable execution plans that align with the current and future vision for the enterprise infrastructure.
- Become a subject matter expert in system and process related areas of the business, and ultimately play a lead role in the ongoing projects.
- Lead design discussions focused on scalability, design and implementation of best practices accountable to ensure business and technical requirements are met.
- Leads the development of creative new data integrations, modifications to existing software, and/or makes decisions regarding integrating software applications data in accordance with agreed upon specifications.
- Liaise with the internal stakeholders and the development team on the projects/solutions.
- Lead the development of the projects/solutions, which includes creating and maintaining documentation and plans for features, delivery management, rollout, support etc. encompassing the SDLC practices.
- Onboarding and training new team members to the team, introducing them to the products, tools or applications supported by the team;
- Monitor the health, adoption, security, cost etc. of the applications supported under the portfolio.
- Participate with the business owners in defining the SOPs for new processes including business processes, technical development, change management, operational support, etc.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Business program or equivalent area of study;
- At least 4-6 years software engineering industry experience.
- Deep understanding of database design, along with experience in enterprise systems and data modelling
- Experience in measurement and evaluation of portfolio management.
- Functional experience in AI tools to aid development, architectural solutioning etc. is an asset
- Functional expertise in one or more programming languages (SQL preferred), with strong knowledge of software engineering methodologies and development tools, and deep specialization in Azure Cloud–based database architecture, data platforms, and analytics solutions.
- Experience modeling business processes using a variety of tools and techniquesStrong knowledge of designing and implementing highly available, extensible APIs.Ability to work with various departments to facilitate the orderly execution of a proposed solution
- Strong functional understanding of digital asset management through best-in-class CMS systems;
- Strong functional understanding of digital asset deployment and consumption to endpoint systems;
- Experience working in an Agile environment.
- Domain knowledge in our business processes is considered as a key asset

- Foundational knowledge of UI/ UX and dashboard development.
