This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Solutions Architect - Data Governance based in the United States.

This is a senior, client-facing architecture role focused on helping organizations build trusted, scalable, and sustainable data governance programs.You’ll advise executive stakeholders, data leaders, business teams, security organizations, and technical delivery teams on governance strategy and implementation.The role combines enterprise data governance, Microsoft Purview architecture, metadata management, lineage, stewardship, data quality, and governance operations.You’ll lead discovery workshops, maturity assessments, architecture reviews, roadmap sessions, and transformation initiatives from strategy through delivery.You’ll also help organizations prepare their data estates for modern analytics and enterprise AI platforms, including Microsoft Fabric, Azure, and Microsoft 365 Copilot.Success in this role means turning complex governance challenges into practical operating models, measurable adoption, and trusted data ecosystems.It’s an opportunity to shape enterprise-wide data strategies while working across diverse client environments and emerging technology landscapes.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead enterprise data governance strategy, architecture, and transformation initiatives, acting as a senior technical advisor throughout client engagements.
  • Conduct governance discovery workshops, maturity assessments, roadmap exercises, executive strategy sessions, and governance design workshops.
  • Design governance frameworks covering data ownership, stewardship models, accountability structures, policies, business glossaries, taxonomies, metadata management, and governance processes.
  • Architect and oversee Microsoft Purview implementations, including Unified Catalog, Data Map, Data Estate Insights, business glossary, metadata management, and data lineage capabilities.
  • Establish governance standards across structured data environments including Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Services, Power BI, SQL Server, Snowflake, Azure Databricks, and related platforms.
  • Advise executive sponsors, governance councils, data stewards, and technical teams, translating business objectives and regulatory requirements into scalable governance solutions.
  • Develop sustainable governance operating procedures and stewardship practices that encourage adoption and accountability beyond initial implementation.
  • Design governance monitoring and reporting solutions using Azure Monitor, Azure Log Analytics, and related observability technologies.
  • Establish processes for measuring governance adoption, stewardship performance, data quality, lineage coverage, and overall governance effectiveness.
  • Develop reusable governance accelerators, reference architectures, delivery assets, and best practices based on real-world client engagements.
  • Advise clients on data governance readiness for Microsoft 365 Copilot and broader enterprise AI initiatives, including metadata maturity, lineage, ownership, and governance controls.
  • Collaborate across sales, engineering, delivery, security, and leadership teams while identifying opportunities to improve governance solutions and delivery practices.
  • Facilitate difficult discussions around ownership, accountability, governance scope, and organizational change, helping stakeholders reach practical and sustainable outcomes.
  • Travel to partner, customer, or other business locations as required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Management, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 7+ years of experience delivering enterprise data, information management, or data governance solutions, with substantial recent experience focused on governance.
  • Hands-on experience implementing Microsoft Purview, including Unified Catalog, Data Map, Data Estate Insights, business glossary, metadata management, and data lineage.
  • Demonstrated experience establishing data stewardship programs involving executive sponsorship, ownership structures, accountability models, and adoption strategies.
  • Proven experience leading client-facing consulting engagements, executive workshops, governance assessments, architecture discussions, and strategic advisory initiatives.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, and Azure, along with an understanding of how data engineering and visualization architectures interact with governance.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise data governance frameworks, governance operating models, and governance reporting.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to tailor complex concepts to executive, business, and technical audiences.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with executive sponsors, governance councils, data stewards, and multidisciplinary delivery teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify root causes behind governance challenges such as unclear ownership, weak adoption, ineffective incentives, or inadequate tooling.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with sales, delivery, engineering, security, and leadership stakeholders.
  • Commitment to continuous learning across data governance, analytics, cloud, and AI technologies.
  • Strong ethical standards and disciplined adherence to data privacy, governance, compliance, and security requirements.
  • Preferred experience with Azure Databricks and Unity Catalog, including governance across Azure-based lakehouse environments.
  • Preferred experience supporting Microsoft 365 Copilot enablement, AI governance frameworks, or enterprise AI adoption.
  • Familiarity with agentic systems such as Microsoft Foundry and Copilot Studio is an advantage.
  • Experience with Azure Monitor, Azure Log Analytics, Azure DevOps, GitHub, Infrastructure as Code, and CI/CD practices is beneficial.
  • Experience working in regulated industries such as healthcare, financial services, insurance, manufacturing, or the public sector is a plus.
