Description

The Product Line and Compliance Manager owns the full lifecycle strategy, commercial viability, and regulatory integrity of our manufactured product lines. This hybrid role bridges the gap between commercial demand and manufacturing capabilities while ensuring 100% compliance with industry-specific, national, and international regulatory standards. You will drive profitability through robust financial product reviews and business case development while serving as the ultimate gatekeeper for regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Product Line Management & Business Strategy

  • Own the product lifecycle from initial research and development through manufacturing scaling, maturation, and ultimate obsolescence.
  • Develop robust business cases for new product introductions (NPI), evaluating market viability, technical feasibility, and manufacturing resource allocation.
  • Conduct financial product reviews, analyzing margins, cost structures, raw material surcharges, and volume-based tiered pricing models to optimize profitability.
  • Define product positioning and value propositions, translating technical and quality achievements into clear commercial advantages.

Commercial & Manufacturing Coordination

  • Act as the primary liaison between the commercial sales team and the manufacturing floor, aligning market demand with production capacity and constraints.
  • Translate commercial requirements into actionable technical specifications for R&D, Quality, and Operations teams.
  • Manage cross-functional workflows governing the transition of products from the R&D sampling and testing phase into standard manufacturing production.

Regulatory, Quality & Compliance Governance

  • Oversee all regulatory compliance activities, ensuring products meet strict industry standards, including global food-contact regulations, environmental mandates, and state/regional requirements (such as Prop 65).
  • Manage compliance documentation, including tracking raw material compliance, maintaining certified bills of substances, and orchestrating mandatory third-party laboratory testing.
  • Partner with the Quality department to monitor production compliance, investigate quality defects, and participate in formal problem-solving workflows (such as 8D analysis or Internal Corrective Actions).
  • Monitor evolving global regulations, proactively identifying risks or compliance impacts to existing product formulations and manufacturing process aids.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in product management, regulatory compliance, or technical project management within a manufacturing environment.
  • Financial Acumen: Strong proficiency in cost accounting, financial modeling, margin analysis, and business case development.
  • Compliance Expertise: Demonstrated experience managing product compliance frameworks, third-party lab testing protocols, and manufacturing regulatory documentation.
  • Skills: Strong cross-functional leadership, excellent communication, and the ability to comfortably interface with both commercial sales teams and plant floor operations.
