Job Description

The Construction Project Manager is crucial for managing the full lifecycle of data center design and construction projects. This position exists to ensure projects are delivered effectively, meeting both quality and budgetary targets within predefined timelines. Operating within the strategic directives set by the Head of Construction Project Management, this role is vital for maintaining the standards and growth objectives of the organization.

  • Construction Safety: The Construction Project Manager is directly responsible for enforcing a strict safety culture on site, based on the company’s safety standards.
  • Participate in regular Management EHS walkthroughs and site inspections. Ensure that the general contractor and equipment vendors shall immediately record, address, and resolve site safety issues.
  • In the event of an incident that affects operations or causes damage to property / injury to a worker, the project manager shall lead or coordinate the prompt development of Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) and detailed sequence-of-events reporting. 
  • Technical Project Execution and Monitoring: Direct day-to-day construction activities, ensuring alignment with agreed project baselines, constraints, and project management processes.
  • Drive and oversee all project phases, providing technical oversight, maintaining stringent control over schedules and budgets, and ensuring effective deployment of resources.
  • Manage the installation and commissioning of  critical infrastructure, including diesel generators, UPS, chillers, switchgears, and building monitoring systems. 
  • Procurement: Oversee the end-to-end procurement process for

hiring of consultants, the general contractor, long lead equipment, as well as processing of supplemental POs while ensuring adherence to project budgets and timelines.

  • Manage vendor pre-qualification, bid tendering, and contract

negotiation, technical evaluation, and Purchase Order issuance ensuring all agreements align with company standards.

  • Cross-Functional Team Leadership Lead diverse cross-

functional teams to accomplish project goals, including consultants for design, project management, testing and commissioning, cost control, offshore technical resources, and in-house construction, finance, legal, operations, and procurement specialists, fostering a collaborative and high- performance environment.

  • Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance Lead rigorous

quality control and assurance programs, ensuring all design and construction activities comply with local/international building codes, environmental regulations, and internal quality benchmarks, and in accordance with design requirements. Manage the rectification of construction defects, maintain a punchlist of defects and ensure that the defects are remedied/resolved on-time.

  • Advanced Risk Management and Mitigation Proactively

identify, analyze, and develop advanced mitigation strategies for complex technical, schedule, and operational risks throughout the project lifecycle to maintain project integrity and timelines. Enforce strict Method of Procedure (MOP) compliance and implement change management processes for all high risk activities.

  • Stakeholder and Vendor Management Cultivate and maintain

exceptional relationships with a broad operating network, including clients, government agencies, contractors, community organizations, and vendors, to facilitate smooth project progression and manage expectations Ensure that commitment to clients and other stakeholders are fulfilled in a timely manner. Provide regular reports and quickly flag and escalate project concerns that could affect delivery timeline, quality, or increase project costs and lead in the resolution of these concerns.

  • Testing and Commissioning: With the help of the CX consultant

and in-house commissioning experts, manage the project through all 6 levels of testing and commissioning culminating in successful Integrated Systems Testing (IST - CX5) and project handover and close-out (CX6) . Ensure full integration of all systems into the Energy & Control Management Systems (ECMS), to enable single-screen visibility for the operations team.

  • Project Closure and Performance Evaluation Complete all

project deliverables, manage final handovers, and conduct in- depth post-project analysis to capture valuable lessons learned and report on final project performance against initial objectives.

  • Lead the review, approval, and ultimate handover of the project

to Operations and the client (when applicable). This includes managing the review of as-built drawings, completion of the as- built BIM model, submission of comprehensive Operations & Maintenance Manuals (OMMs), close-out of punchlists and turnover of rooms to operations.

  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks to maintain project integrity and timelines.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to address and resolve issues swiftly and effectively.
