Senior Data Engineer – Contract

Day Rate: £500 – £650 per day

Location: London | Remote

Data Idols are working with a technology-driven organisation that is continuing to invest in and evolve its data platform. They are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join on a contract basis, helping to develop scalable data infrastructure and build reliable, high-quality data solutions.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a modern cloud-based data environment, tackling complex engineering challenges and helping shape how data is processed, structured and made accessible across the business.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll play a key role in designing, developing and optimising scalable data pipelines and cloud-based data warehousing solutions. You’ll focus on improving the performance, reliability and scalability of the data platform, ensuring data can be effectively used across analytics and wider business applications.

Working closely with Data Engineers, Analytics Engineers and other technical teams, you’ll help develop robust ETL/ELT processes, improve data architecture and build reusable data solutions. You’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of technical challenges, contribute to engineering best practices and make a real impact on the ongoing development of the data platform.

Skills and Experience

  • Strong experience designing, developing and maintaining scalable data pipelines
  • Hands-on experience with GCP and BigQuery is highly desirable
  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL
  • Experience building and optimising ETL/ELT processes
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing, data modelling and cloud-based data architectures
  • Comfortable taking ownership of technical solutions and working collaboratively across engineering and analytics teams
