Sales Engineer 
 
Summary:
The Sales Engineer provides technical consulting and application expertise to support customers and the outside sales team. This role assesses client product needs, reviews project drawings and specifications, recommends value-added Gregory product solutions, supports specification edits to name Gregory products, develops bills of material through project takeoffs, and provides technical insight to Product Management for new product development. The role requires approximately 50% field travel to support customer meetings, jobsite visits, rep firm engagement, product presentations, project reviews, and technical sales support activities.
 
Job Core Responsibilities:
• Technical Consulting: Assess customer product needs, review project drawings and specifications, and recommend value-added Gregory product solutions that align with project requirements, field conditions, and application needs.
• Support specification reviews, edits, and substitutions that properly position Gregory products by name where appropriate, with the goal of securing Gregory brand specifications for products and services.
• Provide application-specific product recommendations to customers, contractors, engineers, specifiers, general contractors, EPCs, and other project stakeholders.
• Sales Support: Partner with Regional Sales Managers and rep firms to deliver product presentations, support customer meetings, and answer complex technical questions related to Gregory products and applications.
• Clearly communicate product capabilities, installation considerations, code or specification alignment, and value-added advantages of Gregory solutions.
• Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers, engineering firms, specifiers, general contractors, EPCs, and contractors to promote Gregory solutions and support project adoption.
• Takeoffs: Review project drawings, plans, Dodge Reports, PEC reports, and related documentation to determine project requirements and develop accurate bills of material.
• Coordinate with sales, customers, contractors, and internal teams to clarify scope, confirm product selections, and support accurate quoting, project planning, CAD drawings, or BIM modeling as needed.
• Product Development: Provide technical expertise, market feedback, and customer application insights to Product Management to support new product development, product improvements, and application-driven solution design.
• Stay current on industry trends, market conditions, competitor activity, and customer needs to identify opportunities for product improvement, market penetration, and value-added solutions.
 
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field
 
Skills:
• Strong technical knowledge and understanding of engineering principles and practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with clients.
• Self-motivated and results-oriented, with an ability to meet or exceed sales targets.
• Strong negotiation and persuasion skills, with the ability to influence decision-makers.
• Work independently and as part of a team, with excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in using CRM software and other sales tools to manage customer relationships and track sales activities.
 
Travel:
• Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time in the field to support customer meetings, jobsite visits, rep firm engagement, product presentations, project reviews, and technical sales support activities.
