The Ontario Cannabis Store provides safe, responsible access to recreational cannabis for adults 19 and older. We operate the sole legal online store for recreational cannabis in Ontario and are the provincial wholesaler of cannabis for private retail stores.

About the Role

We're looking for an IT Data Analyst to join our team.

As a key member of the Enterprise Data team, you will provide day-to-day reporting and analytical support to business teams across the organization. In this role, you will develop, maintain, and enhance reports, dashboards, and visualizations that empower informed decision-making and drive operational effectiveness. Leveraging descriptive analytics, you will identify trends, measure performance, and deliver actionable insights that help stakeholders make data-driven decisions.

About Your Day

  • Develop and enhance reports, dashboards, and visualizations that support business and operational reporting needs.
  • Partner with stakeholders to define reporting requirements, KPIs, and performance measures, and deliver actionable insights that support decision-making.
  • Analyze and interpret data to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and performance drivers using descriptive, predictive, statistical, and machine learning techniques.
  • Conduct ad hoc reporting and analysis, validate data accuracy and integrity, and support strategic analytics initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering, Senior Data Analysts, and business partners to deliver reporting enhancements and analytics solutions using enterprise datasets.
  • Manage multiple reporting requests while balancing business priorities, team objectives, and service commitments.
  • Train and support business users on dashboards, reports, and self-service analytics tools, helping them understand and leverage data effectively.
  • Communicate insights to technical and non-technical audiences and contribute to continuous improvement of reporting processes, analytics standards, and data quality.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or a related role, with hands-on experience using Power BI and developing reports, dashboards, and visualizations.
  • Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into reporting and analytical solutions that support decision-making.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, quantitative, and communication skills, with the ability to effectively present insights to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Power BI, SQL, Python, and Microsoft Excel, with strong data analysis and querying capabilities.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure, predictive analytics methodologies, and version control tools such as Azure DevOps or Git.
  • Experience supporting retail, eCommerce, consumer insights, business analytics environments, data warehousing, or self-service analytics tools is considered an asset.
  • Certifications in Power BI, analytics, or related technologies are preferred.

About the Job

  • Location: Toronto, ON near York Mills and Yonge Street
  • Hours of Work: 36.25 a week
  • Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
  • Required Travel: Rare, usually within the GTA

Compensation

The target hiring range for this position is $80,000- $90,000. This is a pay grade 5B role, with a salary range of $61,291.58- $93,437.08. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
