Senior Data Analyst
WSA APAC Hyderabad, Telangana, India
Medical Equipment Manufacturing · 10,001+ employees
About the role
You will build and maintain analytical data models while designing performant BI solutions to support operational intelligence. Additionally, you will investigate operational signals and collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide data-driven insights for product quality and incident management.
What they look for
Requirements
Candidates must have 5-8 years of experience in a data-focused role and hold a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, Power BI, and dimensional modeling is required.
Full description
Driven by the passion to improve quality of people’s lives, WSA continues to grow as market leader in the hearing aid industry. With our commitment to increase penetration in an underserved hearing care market, we want to accelerate our business transformation in order to reach more people, more effectively.
What you will do
You will join our Software Excellence department, working at the intersection of operational analytics, incident management, and product quality. You will take ownership of analytical deliverables, contribute to data model development, and play an active role in shaping how operational intelligence is built and consumed.
Build and maintain analytical data models
- Design and maintain dimensional models and semantic layers in Power BI or equivalent — including star schema structures, calculated measures, hierarchies, and row-level security — following established architectural standards.
- Apply appropriate modelling patterns such as SCD and medallion layer conventions, and actively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks including query folding, cardinality issues, and incremental refresh configuration.
- Contribute to the definition and documentation of metrics and KPIs — specifying calculation logic, grain, and refresh cadence — and ensure consistent application across dashboards and reports.
- Work within the analytical architecture standards set by the Lead Data Analyst, and proactively flag opportunities to improve model quality, reusability, and maintainability.
Investigate operational signals and analyse data
- Investigate operational and customer-facing signals across multiple products and systems — combining data from telemetry, crash logs, support records, incident data, and observability platforms to surface patterns and root causes.
- Write complex, optimised SQL, Python, and KQL queries to extract, join, and analyse data from heterogeneous sources, and develop reusable scripts and templates that accelerate future investigations.
- Apply statistical techniques to detect anomalies, identify trends, and quantify product quality signals — including time-series analysis, cohort analysis, and threshold-based alerting.
- Support root cause investigations for significant incidents, contributing data-driven findings and recommendations to cross-functional teams.
Deliver BI solutions
- Build and publish Power BI reports and dashboards that are performant, maintainable, and aligned to the organisation's BI deployment standards — including version control, environment promotion, and dataset certification practices.
- Optimise DAX measures and report-level query performance, and apply visual-level query reduction techniques to ensure a responsive user experience.
- Maintain analytical documentation — including measure definitions, report logic, and data source references — ensuring that solutions are understandable and auditable by others.
- Partner with Data Engineering to validate pipeline outputs and schema designs, and clearly articulate analytical data requirements when new or updated data products are needed.
Collaborate across functions
- Work closely with Incident Management, Support, SRE Engineers, Software Development, and Data Engineering stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver relevant, trustworthy analytical outputs.
- Communicate findings clearly and adapt your message to different audiences — from engineers and domain experts to project managers and business stakeholders.
- Help ensure that data usage and retention practices are aligned with legal and compliance requirements, including GDPR.
What you bring
Experience
- 5–8 years of experience in a data-focused role such as Data Analyst, BI Developer, Analytics Engineer, or equivalent.
- BE/B.Tech degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
- Solid hands-on experience building and maintaining analytical data models in production — including star schema, semantic layers, and dimensional modelling.
- Proven track record of delivering analytical solutions across multiple data sources in a software-driven environment.
- Experience working with defined metrics frameworks and contributing to their documentation and improvement.
Technical skills
- Strong proficiency in SQL — including window functions, CTEs, query optimisation, and working with large datasets.
- Proficiency in Python for analytical work — including pandas, NumPy, and visualisation libraries.
- Solid hands-on experience with Power BI — including DAX authoring, semantic model development, performance tuning, and report deployment.
- Proficiency in KQL for querying operational and telemetry data in Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.
- Experience working with Databricks or equivalent platforms as an analytical consumer — querying Delta tables and using notebooks for exploratory work.
- Familiarity with Azure data services relevant to analytical consumption — including Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Monitor, and Log Analytics.
- Familiarity with distributed tracing concepts such as OpenTelemetry and how trace data relates to analytical outcomes.
- Understanding of statistical techniques applicable to operational analytics — anomaly detection, trend analysis, and time-series methods.
- Good understanding of data privacy and GDPR principles as applied to analytical work.
Personal competencies
- You are analytically rigorous — you question data before trusting it and verify your findings before presenting them.
- You take ownership of your work end-to-end — from scoping the problem through to delivering a solution others can rely on.
- You communicate clearly and can adapt your message to technical and non-technical audiences.
- You are proactive in identifying improvements — to models, processes, and analytical assets — and you follow through on them.
- You are comfortable working with ambiguity and can structure a loosely defined problem into a clear analytical approach.
