Job Summary

We are seeking a driven and results-oriented Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead and direct the activities of Project Engineers and Tool Designers in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineering leader who thrives on supporting new model launches, driving process improvements, and resolving complex manufacturing challenges. As a key partner to Product Development, Quality, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing teams, you will oversee engineering resources, manage project priorities, and ensure the successful execution of initiatives that improve safety, quality, productivity, and process capability.

Core Responsibilities

 

Leadership & People Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop Assistant Managers, Project Engineers, and Tool Designers through regular one-on-one meetings, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Support team growth through coaching, teaching, and succession planning.
  • Carry out managerial responsibilities including hiring, training, performance reviews, and resolution of employee issues.
  • Develop assistant managers as future leaders within the organization.

Project & New Model Support

  • Provide leadership and decision-making support for new model launches and major manufacturing projects.
  • Support project tracking, follow-up, and execution to meet quality, cost, and timing targets.
  • Work cross-functionally with product development, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure project success.
  • Teach and support Value Stream Engineers (VSEs) as needed during new model activities.

Investment & Resource Management

  • Manage manufacturing engineering investments including reviews, approvals, follow-ups, and quarterly reporting.
  • Conduct investment meetings and ensure alignment with manufacturing and business strategy.
  • Plan and manage engineering resources using workload and capacity planning tools.
  • Make recommendations regarding headcount and organizational structure as needed.

Process Capability & Technical Oversight

  • Evaluate current manufacturing process capability against design requirements and recommend improvements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to manufacturing methods, quality, and efficiency.
  • Provide technical oversight related to manufacturing methods, procedures, and tooling design.
  • Present technical information clearly to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.

Administrative & Operational Support

  • Ensure timely completion of administrative responsibilities including approvals, reporting, and coordination activities.
  • Manage ETO approvals, drawing approvals, POR processing, and related documentation.
  • Participate in meetings and coordinate activities across multiple buildings or campuses.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as required to support projects and operations.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

  • Minimum of five years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline, including experience supporting new model launches.
  • Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams.
  • Ability to travel between multiple facilities and participate in occasional domestic and international travel.

Education Requirements Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a manufacturing-related engineering field.
