Full description
Do you want to have a significant impact on how work is done at Apple? Radar is used by every major organization across Apple to help teams organize and track their work. As Apple’s primary tool for defining, tracking, and testing issues, Radar has been used for decades across various teams, including hardware and software engineering. It serves as a unified platform for bug tracking, test case management, and product management, facilitat- ing seamless coordination among team members. The Radar Engineering team at Apple seeks an early-career Software Engineer to help build and scale the services behind Radar.
Description
As a Java Engineer on the Radar Platform team, you will help build and run the services behind Radar, Apple’s platform for product development, bug tracking, and work manage- ment. Radar is a high-traffic, business-critical system used by teams across all of Apple, and the work you do here will be felt by engineers company-wide from your first release. You will join a growing team distributed across California, Texas, and Ireland. In our highly collaborative environment, you will work closely with a team of passionate builders to deliver end-to-end features critical to Apple’s engineering workflows. You will receive structured mentorship, comprehensive training in Apple’s development practices, and the support to learn and develop your skills quickly. You will write, test, and ship Java code across a complex microservices ecosystem built on Spring, Solr, and Oracle. You will build new features, fix bugs, and learn how a platform at this scale remains stable while constantly evolving. As you ramp up, you will take on increasing ownership of features and services, contribute to design discussions, and help bring new technologies onto the platform.
Minimum Qualifications
Solid programming skills in Java or similar language, with a good grasp of object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms. Familiarity with relational databases and SQL. Experience with version control (Git) and a working understanding of the software development lifecycle. Experience building REST APIs or backend services, for example with Spring.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Familiarity with Redis, Solr, Kafka, and Oracle. Exposure to microservices, distributed systems, or cloud infrastructure. Experience with unit and integration testing frameworks such as JUnit. Interest or experience in agentic workflows, MCP integrations, or AI-assisted development tools. Ability to triage problems, prioritize accordingly, and propose a resolution.
