Job Role: Network Administrator
Compensation range: $2,200 AUD - $2,600 AUD / Monthly
Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement
Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 7 AM - 3 PM, Monday to Friday AEST)

Role Overview: We are looking for a skilled Network Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize our growing network infrastructure. This role will be responsible for ensuring high availability, security, and performance across wired and wireless environments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with routers, switches, MikroTik RouterOS, enterprise Wi-Fi systems, and cloud-managed network platforms. The role will also involve monitoring network performance, troubleshooting complex connectivity issues, and maintaining accurate network documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot LAN/WAN environments, routing protocols, and switching hardware.
- Manage enterprise wireless networks, including access point configuration, deployment, performance tuning, and troubleshooting through cloud-based controllers such as Ruckus or similar platforms.
- Configure and maintain MikroTik routers, including routing architectures, firewall rules, VPN configurations, and network optimization.
- Monitor network performance, bandwidth utilization, and overall network health using network management, monitoring, and diagnostic tools.
- Proactively identify and address network bottlenecks, connectivity issues, and potential downtime risks.
- Serve as the technical escalation point for complex network connectivity and infrastructure issues.
- Coordinate with hardware and technology vendors when troubleshooting or resolving network-related issues.
- Maintain accurate network diagrams, configuration backups, documentation, and change logs.
- End user support and Ticket Handling
- Support ongoing improvements to network reliability, security, and performance.
- CCNA certification or equivalent practical networking competency.
- 3+ years of experience in network administration, network support, or a related role.
- Hands-on experience configuring and managing MikroTik RouterOS devices and routing architectures.
- Strong understanding of wireless networking principles, RF fundamentals, enterprise Wi-Fi deployment, and troubleshooting.
- Experience administering Ruckus Unleashed/Cloud, Cisco Meraki, or similar cloud-based wireless controllers.
- Practical experience with LAN/WAN environments, routing, switching, firewalls, and VPN configurations.
- Experience using network monitoring, management, and diagnostic software.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, particularly for complex network connectivity issues.
- Ability to maintain clear and accurate technical documentation and configuration records.
- Strong communication and coordination skills when working with internal stakeholders and external vendors.

This is a remote role that will be set up as an independent contractor engagement.
