As a member of a collaborative engineering team, the Staff QA Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of software, firmware, and integrated system solutions.

As our Staff QA Engineer, you’ll support HID’s success by: 

  • Collaborate with Agile Team members to understand project requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Define comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test strategies for software, firmware, hardware, and integrated system solutions.
  • Lead quality assurance activities across multiple projects and provide technical guidance to QA engineers and development teams.
  • Drive the development and maintenance of automated test frameworks and automated regression testing.
  • Execute manual and automated testing to identify defects and verify product functionality, performance, and reliability.
  • Work closely with developers to reproduce, troubleshoot, and resolve complex defects.
  • Mentor QA engineers and promote best practices in testing, automation, and quality assurance.
  • Define processes for and oversee the work done by the other QA/test engineers.

Education and/or Experience

  • 7+ years' experience as a Software Quality Engineer.
  • Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, tools, and techniques. Hands-on experience with project management tools, for example JIRA and TestRail.
  • Experience with functional testing, automation, and regression testing
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Attention to detail and a passion for delivering high-quality software solutions.
  • Excellent understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Software Test Life Cycle (STLC) and Test Methodologies from project definition to post-deployment documentation cycles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) certification.
  • Experience with embedded systems and firmware testing.
  • Experience with Windows applications, Web applications, REST APIs, and integrated system testing.
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD environments.
  • Experience with containerization and virtual machine technologies.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with networking and communication protocols including TCP/IP, UDP, RS232, RS485, SSL/TLS, XML, JSON, and REST services.
  • Experience working with high-reliability, security, or access control systems.
  • Experience with DevSecOps and tools like Snyk and Zaproxy.
