Job Title: Senior Project Manager

Location: Houston, TX

Classification: Minimum of 20 Hours/Week (in-person or hybrid telework)

Job Summary:

Reporting to the ACOS/Research, the Senior Project Manager will support the MEDVAMC research portfolio. This includes implementation and execution of projects, processes, and or flows that support high priority strategic goals.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Leads projects coordinating and streamlining operations to increase efficiency and improve processes.
  • Drafts reports and other forms of written correspondence to facilitate communication and help keep stakeholders informed.
  • Develops and implements project budgets for Research Service Line.
  • Assists with local and national audits, as needed, to adhere to policies that address any financial and purchasing issues and/or processes.
  • Provides regulatory oversight for financial accounts to ensure government accounting and fiscal responsibility adherence.
  • Creates frameworks for maximizing collaboration and encouraging long-term partnerships.
  • Leads community outreach and serves as an ambassador to Veterans Service Organizations on behalf of VA Research Service Line.
  • Ensure annual blanket purchase orders related to assigned projects are prepared/approved for the Research Service Line.
  • Provides financial reports as scheduled and/or requested.
  • Represents Research Service Line in business negotiations; executes business agreements, arrangements, and/or contracts.
  • Oversee the planning of the annual research week and poster session and monitor the receipts and expenditures of funds to assure fiscal responsibility.
  • Ensure all policies and procedures are followed.
  • Other projects as assigned by ACOS/Research.

Education and Experience:

  • Required: Graduate Degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Preferred: At least five years of successful management level experience in VA research administration; relevant and up-to-date knowledge of research administration.
  • Preferred: Skilled in federal or non-profit financial management with at least five years of experience.
  • Preferred: Experience with regulatory audits.
  • Preferred: US Military Veterans.
