Your mission
As Product Manager at Vesoma, you will help lead the R&D and development of a humanoid that performs useful work reliably and at a viable cost. You help turn customer needs into clear product requirements and carry decisions through development, validation, mass production and deployment.
You will work with customers and engineering teams to identify valuable applications, recreate workflows at Vesoma and measure performance under representative conditions. Your analysis will guide priorities, product trade-offs and realistic customer commitments.
Working with the Head of Product and engineering leads, you will shape the roadmap and connect hardware development with software and learned capabilities. The role combines technical judgement, quantitative research and practical follow-through.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer and market research. Lead customer discovery and measure task times, operating conditions and costs. Assess market opportunities and customer payback, recommend applications, and agree measurable performance targets and development stages with customers and engineering.
- Competitor gap analysis. Compare competing robots and alternative automation through research, teardowns and repeatable benchmarks. Separate published claims from measured results, quantify performance and cost gaps, and translate findings into product priorities.
- Roadmap and product requirements. Turn customer needs into a prioritised roadmap and measurable targets for payload, reach, runtime, durability and serviceability. Challenge unnecessary requirements and work with engineering to resolve conflicts between customer value and technical feasibility.
- Cost and product trade-offs. Develop subsystem and unit cost targets with engineering, finance and supply chain. Quantify how performance, reliability and service choices affect production cost, margins and customer economics across planned volumes. Turn the analysis into cost and performance improvements with engineering.
- Use case replication. Recreate customer workflows at Vesoma with engineering and operations, including representative objects, layouts, equipment and operating conditions. Develop repeatable trials, investigate failures and use the evidence to refine requirements before customer deployment.
- Robot capabilities and experience. Define task and skill priorities with AI, software and engineering leads. Set targets for task success rate, cycle time, human assistance, downtime and recovery. Shape appearance, operation and service so people can use the robot confidently.
- Development process and documentation. Maintain clear product requirements, acceptance criteria and decision records. Work with systems engineering to link requirements to test evidence and assess changes. Improve documentation and review practices so teams can make timely, informed decisions.
- Product lifecycle and new product introduction (NPI). Help lead development from prototype through production and improvements in use. With leadership, engineering, safety, quality and project management, agree measurable product exit criteria for engineering, design and production validation; review evidence at each gate and track gaps through closure.
Your profile
- Physical product delivery. You have taken complex (mechatronics) hardware through validation into production or customer deployment, with a clear contribution to product (and/or engineering) decisions and delivery. Show measurable results in production volume, reliability, cost or customer value.
- Technical depth. You understand how mechanics, electronics, controls and software interact. You can question a power budget, interpret a test result and discuss engineering trade-offs. An engineering degree or equivalent practical experience provides your foundation.
- Product judgement. You have turned customer problems into testable requirements, chosen between competing priorities and carried decisions through development. You can explain when you changed direction, what evidence mattered and how the product improved.
- Quantitative reasoning. You build credible benchmarks and business cases from experiments, technical data and customer research. You make timely decisions when evidence is incomplete, test the assumptions that matter most and adapt quickly as results emerge.
- Communication and collaboration. You challenge & write requirements that engineers can use and explain technical choices in business terms. You engage confidently with operators, customers and colleagues, negotiate realistic expectations and bring teams to decisions. Fluent English is essential.
- Product development process (NPI/VDA) experience. You have defined build-gate exit criteria, reviewed test evidence and maintained product documentation through hardware launches in an NPI or VDA type process.
- NPI & Stage-Gate Fluency: Hands-on experience helping define a gated product development process, APQP/VDA from automotive or NPI from consumer electronics/robotics. Comfortable with defining build-gate exit criteria, reviewing test and maintained product documentation through hardware launches with proper requirements traceability, and engineering change processes.
Nice to Haves
- Experience with artificial intelligence or machine-learning products, especially robot manipulation, autonomy or task evaluation, or with production scaling, suppliers, functional safety or service operations.
- Experience in a startup or early-stage team, balancing development discipline with limited resources and changing priorities.
- Previous experience as an engineer, including in manufacturing or testing, or product experience in industries such as robotics, industrial automation, automotive, consumer electronics, medical devices or other relevant industries.
