The Loan Boarding & Data Integration team serves as the operational and technical bridge between mortgage origination and servicing, supporting the systems, processes, and data that enable new mortgage products to be successfully onboarded and supported throughout the member lifecycle.
The team operates at the intersection of business operations, technology, and business intelligence. Team members partner with business stakeholders, application engineers, product teams, and operational leaders to develop solutions that improve efficiency, enhance reporting capabilities, and provide visibility into key business outcomes. Through operational reporting, data integration, and data visualization solutions, the team helps Real Estate Lending business units make informed, data-driven decisions.
We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Summer Associate to join our Loan Boarding & Data Integration team. This role is ideal for students interested in business intelligence, data visualization, operational reporting, and financial services. The Summer Associate will work with operational and reporting data to develop meaningful dashboards, visualizations, and performance metrics that support business decision-making and process improvement initiatives.
The Summer Associate Program is a 12-week internship program beginning in May 2027 and ending in August 2027. Students will work on impactful projects and meaningful work during their internship. To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date of December 2027 or later.
Responsibilities
Potential Projects:
1. Operational Reporting & Data Visualization
Objective: Enhance the effectiveness and accessibility of reporting solutions that support Real Estate Lending operations.
Description: Develop dashboards and visualizations that provide insight into reporting utilization, information access patterns, and operational data needs across Real Estate Lending. Analyze reporting trends to identify opportunities for improved reporting effectiveness, reduced duplication of effort, and broader adoption of self-service reporting solutions. Partner with business stakeholders to develop recommendations that improve how operational information is accessed, delivered, and utilized to support decision-making. The Summer Associate will create executive-ready KPI dashboards and present recommendations to business leaders at the conclusion of the internship.
2. Loan Boarding Operational Metrics
Objective: Improve visibility into loan onboarding performance and operational efficiency.
Description: Design and develop dashboards that provide insight into loan boarding activity, processing trends, exception volumes, and performance indicators. Identify opportunities to improve reporting transparency and provide actionable insights that support operational decision-making.
3. Business Process Visualization
Objective: Support process improvement initiatives through data-driven reporting and visualization
Description: Analyze operational workflows and performance metrics to identify trends, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities. Develop visual reporting solutions that enable stakeholders to monitor performance and measure business outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, and technology teams to identify reporting and visualization opportunities.
- Gather, analyze, and interpret operational and business data from multiple systems and sources.
- Design and develop interactive dashboards, scorecards, and reports using Power BI and other reporting tools.
- Apply data visualization best practices to communicate key trends, risks, and opportunities effectively.
- Perform data validation and quality analysis to ensure reporting accuracy and consistency.
- Translate complex datasets into executive-ready presentations and actionable business insights.
- Support the development of key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics used to monitor business performance.
- Document reporting requirements, data definitions, and dashboard methodologies.
- Present findings and recommendations to business and technology stakeholders.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, team meetings, and project planning activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency through automation and standardization.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
- Familiarity with data visualization concepts and dashboard design.
- Basic knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to communicate technical findings to non-technical audiences.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or other business intelligence platforms.
- Experience with SQL, Python, R, or related analytical tools.
- Familiarity with financial services, lending, mortgage operations, or banking concepts.
- Experience creating reports, dashboards, or executive presentations.
- Experience with KPI development, operational reporting, or business intelligence solutions.
- Exposure to Agile methodologies and tools such as Azure DevOps (ADO).
