Full description

DevOps Engineer (AWS Focus)

Founded in 1998, Iglu is the UK’s leading specialist cruise and ski travel agency, operating globally under the Iglu Cruise, Iglu Ski, and Planet Cruise brands. We make booking travel stress-free by offering expert advice across over 6 million ski holidays and 20,000 cruises. Our dedication to customer support has recently earned us top accolades at the 2025 Travel Weekly Agent Achievement Awards and the 2026 UK Cruise Awards. Following our recent acquisition by the Flight Centre Travel Group, it is an incredibly exciting time to join our growing, award-winning business.

You will be joining a lean, highly collaborative Operations and Security team that works closely together to maintain a fast, reliable, and secure cloud estate. This is a hands-on role that balances strong team-based collaboration with a high degree of autonomy. You will need to be proactive and self-sufficient, taking full ownership of projects from inception through to production handover—while partnering with development, security, and wider business teams to solve complex infrastructure challenges.

What you will do…

  • Designing, securing, and automating our AWS cloud infrastructure, managing core services including EC2, ECS, Fargate, S3, and RDS.
  • Progressing and establishing our foundational AWS Control Tower and Landing Zones architecture.
  • Executing Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM) and vulnerability management using tools like Snyk and various AWS security services.
  • Owning infrastructure projects end-to-end, from the initial discovery and documentation phases to testing and final production handovers.
  • Supporting and managing CI/CD pipelines (primarily TeamCity and Octopus Deploy) to streamline project deployments.
  • Liaising directly with cross-functional teams to investigate and resolve issues, including security interactions and web stack optimisation.
  • Performing occasional out-of-hours maintenance to implement necessary system changes with minimal disruption to the business.

We are looking for experience in…

  • Extensive, hands-on production experience in AWS environments, focusing on practical application and troubleshooting rather than purely theoretical knowledge.
  • A proactive, problem-solving attitude; you must be eager to learn, step outside your immediate comfort zone, and creatively solve problems alongside your team.
  • Proven technical expertise in implementing AWS Control Tower, Landing Zones, and cloud security controls.
  • Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments and familiarity supporting Microsoft technologies (C#, .NET).
  • A proven ability to identify and implement AWS cost-saving measures.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD architecture and automation tools, including Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation) and scripting (Python or Bash).
  • The ability to work autonomously to drive projects to completion, balanced with a collaborative mindset for team brainstorming.
  • Flexibility to work in a hybrid model, commuting to either our Wimbledon or Portsmouth offices when required
