Job Description

We are seeking a Deputy Project Manager to oversee the critical operations at the North East New Territories Landfill / North East New Territories Landfill Extension. This role is pivotal in managing project activities, financial planning, and team leadership to ensure high standards of excellence. Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Oversight: Lead the development and implementation of operating plans. Ensure all site activities comply with local laws, company codes, and contractual obligations.
  • Financial & Operational Management: Manage budgets, including forecasting capital (capex) and operating (opex) expenditures, and overseeing asset replacement.
  • Team Leadership: Direct recruitment, training, performance, and discipline for staff. You will also serve as a deputy to the Project Manager during their absence.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary liaison for landfill users, local residents, the EPD, and independent consultants to maintain positive relationships.

Qualifications

  • Qualifications: A degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering (or a related science).
  • Experience: 8–10 years in municipal waste landfill operations, with at least 5 years in a managerial position or equivalent project management role.
  • Technical Skills: Proven ability in project finance, cash flow management, and implementing Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) plans and procedures.
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication, coaching, and negotiation skills, with the ability to work proactively and independently under pressure.
  • Languages: A good command of both written and spoken English and Cantonese is an advantage.

Preference will be given to candidates with Chartered Membership in an environmental or engineering institution, and experience handling government projects or working in multinational companies.
