Summary:

Under the direction of the Finance Manager Shared Services, the Project Analyst will be responsible for the overall financial project management of their assigned projects to ensure top financial performance of their projects. This position may require client site access, as such, completion of pre-access testing may be required.

Key Focus:

  • Financial management of projects assigned by the Finance Manager Shared Services, which includes but is not limited to project setup, maintenance, financial analysis, and project closure.
  • Work together with Accounts Payable and Procurement to ensure accurate and timely cost recognition. Includes review and coding of month end cost accrual entries.
  • Work together with Accounts Receivable and Billing Administration to ensure invoice submissions meet contractual obligations. Ensure revenue is recognized in accordance with IFRS standards. Including the creation of month end revenue accrual entries.
  • Primary contact for Project Managers (PM) regarding financial management of projects.
  • Analyze financial performance of projects and prepare internal financial statements and other month end reports. Support Operations and Finance Managers during month end review and presentations..
  • Independently organize and prioritize workload to ensure timely completion of deliverables. Escalate concerns/issues to Finance Manager Shared Services as required.
  • Perform other ad hoc functions as requested.
  • Collaborate with finance team to ensure timely delivery and accurate completion of tasks.
  • Prepare internal financial statements for assigned projects.
  • Respond to inquiries from Finance Manager Shared Services and Finance Managers.
  • Prepare annual budgets for assigned contracts.
  • Provide monthly non billable reporting to be presented in the Operations P&L review.
  • Review journal entries and financial statements prepared by Corporate Finance to identify errors and adjust within month end timeframe.
  • Prepare margin analysis and provide commentary.
  • Prepare project forecasts monthly.
  • Prepare client burden reconciliations annually.
  • Assist in the creation of contract rates and provide analysis on cost recovery.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 0-3 years of related experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience with SAP is preferred but not required.
  • Must be organized, willing to embrace change and have a strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills are required.
  • General accounting knowledge obtained through experience and/or education.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills (written and oral) along with the ability to build and foster excellent working relationships.
  • Ability to identify potential implications of actions to mitigate downstream financial impacts.
  • Microsoft Excel and Power BI skills required with an intermediate level understanding preferred.
  • Ability to independently review contracts and understand the contract terms regarding project type, scope of work and invoicing terms.

This is a full time position located at the Satellite Office in Fort McMurray, AB.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 Hours / day.
