Full description

  • Lead the complete New Product Development (NPD/NPI) lifecycle from technical and commercial feasibility through prototype development and mass production.
  • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams across: • Hydraulics
  • Electrical & Electronics
  • Structural Engineering
  • Optimize hydraulic systems, including pump, motor, control valves, and cylinders, for power-on-demand performance.
  • Oversee integration of high-voltage battery packs, PMSM motors, and vehicle controllers.
  • Ensure chassis and heavy structures such as mainframe, boom, arm, bucket, and track frame are optimized for electric drivetrain weight distribution.
  • Conduct detailed competitor benchmarking and machine teardowns to develop market-leading electric excavators/WLS.
  • Define and finalize machine-level and component-level testing/DVP plans for reliability in mining, industrial, and construction environments.
  • Lead homologation and certification activities, including Indian safety standards, CEV norms, and EMI/EMC compliance.
  • Drive localization and VAVE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering) initiatives to improve product cost competitiveness.
  • Collaborate with suppliers for development of new components and proprietary parts.
  • Drive engineering innovation to ensure electric machines deliver strong performance, safety, reliability, and ROI.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of overall experience, with at least 10–12 years in NPD/NPI.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Heavy Equipment NPD, specifically excavators.
  • M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering / System Design or a similar discipline.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience in selection and development of hydraulic components, including: • Control Valves
  • Hydraulic Pumps
  • Hydraulic Cylinders
  • Strong knowledge of heavy structure design and manufacturing processes, including mainframe, boom, arm, and bucket.
  • Good knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) standards.
  • Proficiency in Creo, including modelling, assembly, and surfacing.
  • Experience with relevant engineering simulation tools.
  • Proven track record of successfully launching 3–4 heavy machines in the Indian market with significant market share.
  • Strong expertise in supplier collaboration for newly developed and proprietary components.
  • Strong understanding of electric drivetrain technologies, including HV batteries, PMSM motors, and vehicle controllers.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership, technical problem-solving, and product development capabilities.
