BizFirst is assisting our client with recruiting a skilled and experienced System Administrator. This position supports the following program: a mission application development and cloud operations program that builds, deploys, and supports web applications, databases, and AWS cloud infrastructure for an Intelligence Community customer. The position is onsite at Fort Meade, MD, and the role is open now for an immediate start.
Our client is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business that has supported U.S. defense and intelligence missions since 2012. Its systems, software, and data science engineers work side by side with government teams to model, design, integrate, and deploy complex mission systems, and the company also builds rugged RF hardware for specialized SIGINT applications. Led by a U.S. Navy veteran with more than 30 years of DoD mission experience, the company supports programs alongside many of the largest national security integrators and has a long-established presence in Maryland near Fort Meade.
What will you do
Run and support the IT and AWS cloud infrastructure behind an intelligence mission program. You will implement, maintain, and troubleshoot IT systems, manage AWS infrastructure in a DevOps environment using Terraform and Ansible, and handle day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution across client, server, storage, network, and mobile devices. You will also provide Tier 1 (help desk) and Tier 2 (escalation) support. This role suits a seasoned Linux system administrator who manages infrastructure as code and takes ownership of keeping users productive.
Responsibilities:
- Implement, troubleshoot, and maintain IT systems.
- Manage AWS cloud infrastructure and related processes
in a DevOps environment.
- Provision and configure infrastructure with Terraform
and Ansible.
- Manage AWS services, including Amazon Elastic Container
Registry (ECR).
- Handle day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem
resolution for client, server, storage, network, and mobile devices.
- Provide Tier 1 (help desk) and Tier 2 (escalation)
problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution.
- Automate administrative tasks with Bash, shell, or
Python scripts.
Requirements:
- Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph.
- Bachelor's degree in Communication Engineering,
Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Information Systems and ten (10) years of system administration experience. Fifteen (15) years of system administration experience may substitute for the degree.
- Experience implementing, troubleshooting, and
maintaining IT systems.
- Experience managing AWS cloud infrastructure and
related processes, especially in a DevOps environment.
- Hands-on experience with the AWS suite, including ECR.
- Experience with Terraform and Ansible.
- Proficiency with the Linux/Unix command line and
scripting (Bash, shell, and/or Python).
- Experience providing Tier 1 and Tier 2 support across
client, server, storage, network, and mobile devices.
- Ability to work onsite at Fort Meade, MD.
Desired Skills
- Experience with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence).
- AWS certification, such as AWS Certified SysOps
Administrator or AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
- CompTIA Security+ or another DoD 8140-aligned
certification.
