Full description

Job Description The Junior UI UX and Visual Communications Designer will create polished, user-centred visual products across print and digital channels. Working with consultants, researchers, analysts and communications colleagues, the role will organise evidence and ideas into layouts that are easy to understand, visually consistent and suitable for clients, partners and public audiences. The postholder will combine graphic-design practice with foundational UI UX methods, including user flows, wireframes, prototypes and usability feedback, while ensuring all materials meet MYIT Consult Ltd brand, quality and accessibility standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Design professional technical reports, assessment and evaluation products, policy briefs, proposals, presentations, infographics, dashboards, factsheets, templates and other knowledge products using strong layout, typography, grids and information hierarchy.
  • Convert research findings, data, charts and narrative content into clear visual stories; work closely with report writers and data analysts to ensure graphics accurately reflect the underlying evidence.
  • Create high-quality social-media graphics, campaign assets, event materials, brochures, flyers, certificates, newsletters, branded documents and digital content for organisational and project communications.
  • Develop user journeys, site maps, low- and high-fidelity wireframes, clickable prototypes and interface specifications for websites, dashboards and other digital products.
  • Apply user-centred design principles by gathering requirements, testing early concepts with intended users or internal teams, incorporating feedback and documenting design decisions.
  • Produce and edit vector artwork, icons, diagrams, illustrations, layouts and print-ready artwork; prepare files correctly for digital publication and professional printing.
  • Maintain and apply the organisation’s visual identity, including brand colours, typography, logo use, templates and visual standards, across all outputs.
  • Build and maintain editable design templates and an organised asset library, including source files, approved images, fonts, icons and version-controlled final outputs.
  • Use AI-assisted design and productivity tools responsibly to explore concepts, improve efficiency and support production; verify accuracy, safeguard confidential material and respect copyright, licensing and attribution requirements.
  • Review own work carefully for factual accuracy, visual consistency, accessibility, legibility, image quality and export settings before internal review or publication.
  • Coordinate design timelines with project teams, manage multiple assignments and communicate progress, questions and risks early to meet agreed deadlines.
  • Stay current with design tools, visual-communication practice, accessibility standards and responsible AI developments; participate in feedback and continuous learning.
  • Carry out other relevant design, communications and knowledge-product responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.

Required Experience

  • 0 to 2 years of relevant experience in UI UX design, graphic design, visual communication, digital design, publishing or a closely related field.
  • Relevant NYSC, internship, freelance, volunteer, campus, agency or self-directed portfolio experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrable portfolio showing completed work in more than one format, especially report or publication layouts, infographics, presentations, brand assets and at least one web or mobile interface concept.
  • Experience developing clear, highly appealing long-form reports or knowledge products in CorelDRAW, Adobe InDesign or an equivalent professional layout tool is essential.
  • A diploma or degree in graphic design, visual communication, interaction design, multimedia, fine arts, computer science or a related field is desirable; strong demonstrated capability may substitute for formal qualification.

Required Technical Skills

  • Advanced working proficiency in CorelDRAW, including multipage layouts, master pages, styles, vector editing, prepress preparation and export of print-ready PDFs.
  • Strong practical ability with Canva for branded social, presentation, document and campaign assets.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign. Familiarity with Acrobat Pro, Premiere Pro or After Effects is an advantage.
  • Foundational to intermediate ability in Figma for wireframes, interface design, interactive prototypes, shared libraries and developer-ready handoff. Familiarity with Adobe XD, Sketch or comparable tools is an advantage.
  • Confident use of Microsoft PowerPoint and Word for professional visual formatting; ability to work with Excel or Power BI charts and turn them into clear report visuals.
  • Understanding of typography, colour theory, composition, visual hierarchy, responsive design, UX research basics, accessibility and information design.
  • Ability to prepare files for both screen and print: PDF, PNG, JPG, SVG and editable source formats; working understanding of RGB, CMYK, resolution, bleed and print specifications.
  • Practical familiarity with AI-supported tools for ideation, image generation, copy support, background removal and design automation, with sound judgement about disclosure, copyright, privacy and quality control.
